Do you guys know if there are restrictions on a 2003 yamaha zuma? It hits 38mph on flat with pirelli tires.

There seems to be a debate on this very issue. I've derestricted a dozen 03 and 04's (there's a dif between them!) while others on here including Erich swear there is no restricvtor in the pipe. My shop manual shows it, yet my manual that I had at YMC was something like 25 pages larger than the PDF Erich has.

what ARE the diff between 03 04 ?
My '04 had NO restrictions at all.
My top speed on Florida FLAT road is 39-41

I've been talking with my old boss, Matt at YMC the other day and he is not sure since all the ones he is getting are restricted. The only thing Matt can conclude is that some Zuma;'s are built restricted for some states while others are not restricted depending on the state, but that kind of contradicts why the Vino are sold nationwide restricted to reduce productions costs of manufacturing all the Vinos restricted. Matt said he hopes to hear from corperate because he is getting tired of deretrcting the damn things.

any idea what this screw is for? It's on the bottom of the 2004 zuma exhaust? Kinda looks weird that there would be a screw on the bottom of the exhaust!

can anyone tell me the difference between the '03, '04, and the '05 I just bought yesterday? My '05 zuma tops out at 35/36 mph, and the speedo goes up to 40, its so annoying! I have a lag with mine as well, it takes off at about 10-11 mph, but until then its really rather slow...

2004 here and getting low-mid 40's out of it.
Sounds like yours might be restricted- I saw your other post and Jered told you how to unrestrict it.
To me- why waste the time if you are going to stage it anyway?

My Dad just got an 05 Zuma and it hauls ass up to 40 - the guy at the dealership madeit abundantly clear that is was derestricted.
And not only does it haul ass, it accelerates likes the engine was rubbed with cheetah blood. Now if i could just get some for my Vino...

LOL, I love futurama, love the "rubbed in cheetah blood" comment that you made. Awesome, I think once i derestrict the muffler, and the one in the pulley, I hope that it will haul ass as well.

i found that the new zuma's are if(E) about the top speed 3 of my friends just bought zumas for the same place ones go's 35 with a 188 guy on it and the other 2 go 37-42mph with a 190guy on it. that is why i like the older zuma's they stay more consitant the old zuma beat's the junk out of the new one on a drag, but the old sKool zuma only top out a 40mph and some of the new was will do 38 40 up hill.
