Can erich's Tecnomoto variator mod be done on a stock Zuma variator with a performance gain?
Or are there any other so called "free" performance mods to be done to a stock zuma?
Thanks,

Free? Well air's not free anymore, but I weigh 250, and run the stock tires at 36r/34f. Works great, increases the circumference of the tire, etc.
Had a 100 mile ride today...42 degrees...

you CAN do it on a stock vari. the only thing is there is no "nubs" to trim. You have to make indents instead. The indents allow the vari half to get closer to the starter clutch. The "bump" on the starter clutch is what you are battling........ make sence?

The stock vari can be done as well.... if you look close, you can see the "step" that I cut in. This cannot be done on a bench grinder, you either need a die grinder, or a dremmel for the stock one....
Lennox, can you add an arrow to your photo? I really can't locate the "step" and don't want to begin this mod until I understand what I'm up against.
