crankcase, basegasket leaking

I was wondering if my basegasket leaking, or crankcase leaking could case the problem ive been having at first i thought it was just jetting. Under 40 my scoot revs right all the way to 40 ,but after 40 when its at WOT it seems to stop revving almost a bog and wont go over 43 ,and then makes a pop noise ocasionally almost like a backfire but more like a rev limiter car sound, but then when i reduce to half throttle it starts revving again ,and goes 52 to 55.Which im sure is some jetting problem but it seems like the 102 jet would be enough.
This problem didnt happen until i installed the leo zx pipe when i had the factory modified pipe i had it didnt do this it ran good at WOT it just picked up more accerlation with the leo zx,and starting do this problem at WOT any ideas?

are any of your case bolts loose or missing?...is there any wetness or gas under your motor?..you have to visually inspect as much of the case as you can..I would figure if there was a leak..it will suck air when running..and drip at rest..look for dis-coloration along the gasket seam also..john

i dont have any drips, ive noticed a greasy dirt buildup under my intake i have a vertical engine but i felt the cylinder under the intake,and it's dry it's only greasy under the basegasket.Would the basegasket leaking cause the engine to run good until 40 at WOT?, then after 40 i have to reduce to 1/2 throttle to keep revving.

The buildup has been there, but the after 40 WOT throttle problem happened after i put the leovince zx on there.

well i finally found out my basegasket has a very small leak, im hoping this fixes my WOT problem on to a better engine 91 jog :yippy:
