I'm thinking of jsut removing my mirrors all togeather but don't know about the DOT laws on having them? King got some info?

It'd be cool to be able to find tiny, functional mirrors as well...

most motocylcle mirrors will fit fine. goto your local Harly shop, and you should be able to find some cool mirrors.

To be legal you have to have at least the left mirror on. I remember when the Yamaha's only had just the one. I wouldn't want to clamp them on to the plastic leg shield myself Plastic contracts and expands with temperature, so a clamp on can just fall off while riding. With a Vespa, I suppose it could be bolted on, but I see no advantage or disadvantage to doing this.

The one thing I hate about the Vino, is that it will not take aftermarket mirrors because Yamaha uses this goofy 8,mm size while motorcycles use a 10cm. I had a big thread on this last year on the old forums. Five or six of us went around looking to measure the threads to try this. Personally after that mess, I'd leave the mirrors alone.

is there such a thing as ones that can be installed on the end of the hand grips? Little 1 inch circles or something?

That'd work awesome IMO...

There are bicycle mirrors that will do this but the usually fit inside the handlebar grip.

Hmmm, interesting thoughts, not sure. You could always mount bicycle helmet mirrors to your helmet too, and a sqeezy bike horn too for good measures, hoooo honk! :) For the Geely owners you can put a piece of cardboard in the spokes of the rear wheel so it sounds like a real motor in there as well :D

(Sorry had a bad day!)

I was refering to ones that fit into the handle grips.

Don't get the squeeky horn... however I have air horns! Smarty pants! :D

Just purchased my 2004 Vino in ICE BLUE today and expecting delivery on Saturday.

I wanted to add a windshield but can't seem to find anywhere (manual/forums/online) the diameter of the handlebars. The windshield I'm interested in is a SLIP STEAMER (Tomestone) it comes in either 7/8" diameter or 1" diameter. Anyone know which size I should get to fit the Vino?

Also any suggestions on windhshields? The one from YAMAHA is $100 but the Slip Streamer is $42 and easily removable and I really don't want to give Yamaha anymore $$$$ right now.

BTW Thanks everyone this forum is fantastic and it helped me decide the Vino was for me.

Cheers!

I'll answer my question:

The Vino's Handle bar diameter is 7/8".

I was thinking about a windshield, too, tho the ones I'd found were overpriced. I've missed having one since giving up my reg. motorcycle (Honda Shadow). It makes SUCH a difference!!

Will Zuma mirrors work on the Vino? I can't stand chrome. I'd rather be ridin' my scoot than polishing it.

I saw a Vespa with more mirrors than the Hubble. I laughed my butt off...then I saw three more...what? I mean mirrors are one thing but...

Man...I love those vespas with the 84 mirrors and the dozen or so fog/driving lamps. Totally stylin.

I totally want to get a front rack for my vino to start adding piles of mirrors.

Cool Cannondale... I've got a '90 Nishiki Cascade hardtail (originally a rigid) mtb and a '04 Giant STP2. The world would be a better place if more people rode bicycles.

I would be a skinny-er person if I rode more! Thanks for the compliment on the bike...it still rocks at 24 lbs!

I actually was thinking about this and I think the best way to do it is drill and tap the mirror holes to a 10mm. I think the forward controls are just cast aluminum, wouldn't be that hard. Then you can get some really cool mirrors. Either that or find/make a 8mm to 10mm adaptor, just remember Vino mirrors come off in clockwise and counter clockwise. Not all 10mm mirrors are like that. Just a thought.
