Okay I am gonna get a tach...
I have searchted the internet for about 3 hours now looking for the right one... and have decided on the
Tiny tach commercial...
anyone have this model?
here are the specs...
Tachometer and hour meter for gas engines.
RPM to 19,990.
Updates every 1/2 second.
Standard wire length is 8 feet.
Requires vehicle power or external 9 volt battery.
Contains tachometer, hour meter, two service timers, job timer and max RPM.
All menu controlled.
Can be programmed for different engines.
Estimated battery life is 5+ years — not replaceable.
One year warranty. Click here (http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach/warranty.html) for warranty information.
so it goes to 20,000 rpms... and looks to do everything I need... work with a 2 stroke, and go over 10K rpms...
The crap part is that the site says UPS shipping... so I will have to call and see if I can get a usps shipping hook up...

Everybody I've heard from who's tried the Tiny Tach reports it's garbage. I've never seen a positive comment. The TMI MiniPro works great, and gets positive reviews. I've used the TMI for a couple of years and have had no problems.

Tiny Tachs are "ok" tachs.....they get the job done. Sometimes they fog up though......
Pinky what price range is that tach in?

With the MiniPro there's only one wire, the inductive pickup that wraps around the plug lead. You can mount it anyplace that's convenient.

SenDEC also makes good meters (http://www.sendec.com/). I have one on my dirt bike w/max RPB memory. What our zumas need is a small, inexpensive analog type. Know of any?

Yea thoes look pretty nice....im trying to get me on that can read rpms, and temp of the motor..maybe like bolt up to one of the cylinder bolts...and maybe one that can tell the best time 1/8,0-60......that would be pretty cool but temp and rpms will be perfect..

I emailed about that... they said that it charges when the thing is powered... and the battery actually last around 10 years... they advertise 5 as they don't want pissed off people if it only lasts for 5 when they said 10...
one of those CYA things... tell em less and give em more... actually a good way to do buisness IMO...

Okay, I ordered my "tiny tach commercial" tonight...
Should be here probably early next week or so... (they only ship once a week via USPS, which sucks... but it costs a heck of a lot less, 2nd day air to alaska is a good $20 to start with instead of $4.00 usps)
anyway, It'll do everything I need plus some... so I'll be happy... the biggest thing... It'll read up to 20K RPM's and update 2 times a second...

I also want to try and mount the thing into the face of the guage plastic... don't want it "easy to rip off"...
So hopefully I can squeeze it onto the guage panel to the left of the speedo...

My MiniPro is mounted under my left turn signal. Attached it to a piece of aluminum angle, used an old vario weight as a spacer, painted the mount black and bolted it to the metal arm of the signal. It's out of the way but easy to see.
