Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum, but happy to find it.
I have a 2001 Yamaha Bws aka Zuma for you Americans.
As winter is coming to a close, scooter season is opening.
I am having some electrical problems and I was hoping someone here could help.
I believe it may be the battery needs to be changed, and I hope thats it...but here are the symptoms.
When I try to use turn signals there is a buzzing sound, this gets worse when I use the brake and the signal together. Also the turn signals work intermitently.
The horn suffers from the same problem.
I am going to purchase a new battery soon, but I am not convinced this is the only problem.
Do you guys have any insight?

yeah... battery...

if the battery is so bad that it barely holds a charge... the relay will buzz for the blinkers as it's not functioning with enough power...

I'd just try to charge it before buying a new one... unless you already charged it...

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't charged it yet, but I will definitely try.

my batt is dead from sitting all winter also, do they hold a charge after rechargeing them or should i just replace it? i would hate to have to charge it everytime i go out for a ride which is like once a week at best.

yes... they can...

if they are bad then it will run dead easy... however I'd try it before spending the money...

I agree, I kick start.. as my starter is disables due to the over range... however,

It's nice to have a good battery for the alarm...

You know...

I like the kick start too, but if the problem (flickers) arises due to the battery, then using the kick start has no effect.

Thanks Jerred. I changed the battery and it solved the problem. Now I have another.
My right rear flasher is dead. When I signal right the indicator blinks at a fast rate.
I was wondering if this is like a car, when a light is burnt out it flashes faster?
Also, is it usually just a light bulb? I am guessing yes and it's probably just 2 screws to open the housing and change it. Anyone have any advice?
Thanks

yeah, it is most likey a burned out bulb. lack of resistance will speed up the flash.......
