Does anyone have experience with the upgear kit on the site? How much higher is the ratio? I have plenty of low end torque with my current set up with Polini 70cc iron jug kit, Polini var with 4.9oz rollers, 15% over torque spring, Pollini adjustable speed clutch, Arrache 19mm carb, Arrache airfilter, carbon fiber reed valves, and Giannelli Shot pipe. The bike pulls hard to about 45mph, then flattens out bad. It will pull to about 60mph or so if the weather is right, but won't hold it with any kind of head wind etc. Any advice regarding the gearing would be really appreciated. Oh yeah, I am new to this forum, but have been using this site for guidence since I started with this project about a year ago (2004 Vino). I started working on the Vino for a hobby, but it is rapidly becoming my primary transpotation when the weather is ok :) .

Hey if you realy have all them parts...you should easylie hit 60 and stay their....maybe u just need to tune it some more...maybe you should try to use heavier rollers...i mean when my friend shayandaman had his working right with his arisal..he would HIT 60 NO PROBLEM...your sitting their with a polini...ya know..

I was thinking about changing the rollers. The 4.9's are the heaviest ones I have, though. I have the lo-po Polini, contesta I think it was, I can't remember right now, but it is a 2 ring piston and iron jug. I don't think it is as hot as thier more hi-po version. That may be why my bike is slower than some of the other similiar bikes. I am wondering if my belt might be wearing a little too. I am over 1000 miles now. I replaced it at ~300miles, but I didn't go with a kevlar--it is a Polini, but not kevlar. would closing the var a little sooner with heavier weights make top end that much higher? The thing really pulls good to 45 as it is now. Anyway, thanks for the advise, I appreciate it!

I would try 5 or 6g rollers to start. I don't have any experience with the pipe you are using, but it could be the power band of the pipe also.

I will order some heavier rollers and give it a try. The thing is a madman from off idle to about 40 or so. That was why I was thinking about higher gearing--to spread the power band over a greater mph range. Really, when this thing is going good it outpulls my 500 Enfield (that isn't real hard to do though) on bottom end. Anyway, again thaks for the advice, it is all appreciated! ::handleba
