Exhaust Derestriction

Recently purchased a '01 Vino on eBay...
I took off the stock muffler and derestricted the exhaust pipe, but wanted to know if anyone out there has derestricted the tailpipe (between the muffler and ambient air). The tailpipe is only ~1/2 dia. :eek: and I wonder if it could be expanded to the exhaust pipe (between engine and muffler) diameter to improve airflow/hp/top speed without affecting muffler performance/noise. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

I thought about that at one time, but concluded it would be too much a pain in the ass to attempt. And as with all tu-strokes, I'd be willing to bet I'd have to plug test and rejet again, because G-d forbid no matter what you do to the Vino, it needs a rejet. derestrict, rejet, new multivar, rejet. Change the headlight bulb, rejet. Have Elise prepare dinner, rejet. blah, blah, blah!!! (Wonder if I can rejet her, before she reads this and hits me with a frying pan!!!)
