I upgraded to 70cc/carb/pipe several months ago and have been running the stock variator/belt. It's been sluggish so I just got the tecnomoto variator in the mail yesterday. After wrestling the fan plate off (breaking one of the blades off in the process) I installed the variator w/ the silver weights. Now I see they sent a torque spring w/ the setup. Is it necessary? Have most replaced that as well? When do I know that I need it?

Thanx,

Jonathan

it's only needed if your scooter works better with it installed...

basically it helps reduce belt slip by adding more compression on the belt... some swear it's worse for the belt... but IMO belt slip is worse...

I'd try it both ways with shims and with out to see what works best...
