Hello everyone. I am new and I am looking to buy a zuma. I like the way they look and i think thats what me and my dad want to get. We want to buy a pair of them. I want the newer style 02 and up I beleive. So what kind of performance things can I do to make it fast? I was thinking the 70cc kit with 19mm carb a performance pipe and then something to do wtih the belt? I dont know. What brands and where do I buy them? Haha, I really want to get his thiong going asap. What will my top speed be, and also how reliable will it be? Thanks, Jared

Well jared...

to start, the place to buy your parts is www.provoscooter.com other than that, sorry but due to this site being funded from the sales page, we do not allow other links to be posted in the forums...

with that out of the way, a stage 2 kit which is sold at the above site, is fairly simple to install and is reliable as a stock set up if it's runed correctly...

The big key to keeping a 2 stroke running right and for a long time is to make sure your carb is tuned correctly (and that it's big enough for the cylinder). There are some wonderful How-to's listed in the blue banner above, some are official ones that the owner has provided to his customers and others are from the moderator team...

A stage 2 install is very easy to do (if you have general mechanical knowledge) and fair decent priced. I'd guess somewhere around 50mph or so will be your top end depending on the tune, passenger weights, road conditions where you live...

As you can see from my signature I have a pretty modded out scooter... Still waiting to test the thing... but I'm hoping for a strong 65-70 mph out of it... but spring will tell (I live in alaska, so probably won't get it fully tested till may time frame)

If you go with the stage 2 kit that provo sells there are some part you can substitute instead of the packages he has listed... IE: malossi variator instead of the technomoto one or a larger 24mm carb and things like that... If you plan on making it a radical set up then I'd recommend a carb bigger than 19mm as it's the smallest that I'd recommend for a 70cc kit, however the nice thing about it.... you can use the stock intake manifold and don't have to upgrade that...

There are things like changing the rear gearing to allow for a higher speed at lower rpm's, over range transmissions which give you tremendous bottom end power, CDI (electronic ignition upgrades), reed valves which I highly recommend as the metal ones that are stock can severely damage your engine if they fail, performance tires, and all sorts of stuff... unfortunately your gonna have to do some research to see what you want then see if you can get it all... check out www.malossi.com and erich (provo's owner) can get these parts for you as well as Arreche carb's, Airsal cylinders, R and RS exhausts...

basically the more extreme you mod it, the less reliable it will become, you can't expect a engine that runs at 125-13500 rpm's to last as long as the stock set up running 7-9000 rpm's... that's a lot more rpm's to add wear and tear on your parts...

Also, allong with modding the thing, you void your warrenty... something as simple as a 70cc cylinder can void your tranny, starter, crank etc parts of your warrenty... So make sure your willing to have to suck up the costs of repairs if it comes to that in the future...

one last hint... I recommend running a premix fuel/oil instead of relying on the stock injector to pump enough oil for the larger cylinder... there is a great How-to on removing all aspects of the oil system from your scooter... Something I recommend, as there have been several members who have toasted cylinders and think it could have been caused from lack of oil to the cylinder....

GOOD WRITE UP!

I think you should split this thread and make it a sticky...
