So I recently repainted my Vino, the process involved pulling out that brake line for the front brake to get the rear panel of the wheel cover, or cutting the panel... which I foolishly chose not to do.

point is, my brakes were working fine before I chose to put the wheel panel back on... today I put the panel back on and my front brake no longer works.

I have absolutely no pressure in the brake handle, I can pull it all the way back to the throttle with no resistance. I assume when I removed the union bolt that let air into the brake line? I tried bleeding the brake but it hasn't worked thus far. I primarily attribute this to the fact that I don't have a piece of plastic tubing to attach to the bleeding nut or whatever it's called. Is it possible to properly bleed out the brakes without a tube?

For reference the front brake worked just fine not but 10 minutes before I messed with the union bolt.

If you are not sure, get someone who knows what they're doing to work on your brakes - braking is too important to make any mistakes with.

By disconnecting the brake line, brake fluid probably leaked out. Even loosening the banjo bolt can admit air in to the brake line turning it to mush - which must then be bled (purged of air).

You might as well have your brake fluid changed now (or at least topped up) with bleeding the air from the lines after. Google the procedure to see what it entails.

People use clear vinyl tubing so that the paint dissolving brake fluid doesn't get over everything, and they can see air bubbles being bled/purged from the lines.

the tubing also allows brake fluid to be sucked back into the
cylinder in stead of air . without the tubing you will be wasting your time
and you will not get a SAFE braking system.

the hose will cost you about a dollar.
