WTF??? I've had this sucker in the the shop more than once for the same problem over the last two years. It's been like going to the doctor, where the problem does not manifest itself in the office, but shows up again out on the road, where it's dangerous. I'll be tooling along at 20-30 mph and she just cuts out. Then, maybe, if I wait long enough, and keep my foul language to myself, maybe she starts and I get home. Otherwise, I push her home.

Carburetor has been cleaned, professionally, 3 days ago. Took her for a 30 minute drive to charge up the battery 2 days ago, without incident. Yesterday, 2 minutes out, and she dies, in traffic. Just like always, no reaction to throttle, and she just putters and dies.

Am I driving the thing incorrectly? I do like to get her up to 30-35, and I jackrabbit around a bit, stop and go, run and gun.

HHHHHHEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

Sounds like vapor lock. Try this and see if it helps - If you have a liquid cooled scooter, it is probably a combo of anti-freeze and distilled wter. Check the coolant level, if low add some distilled water or replace it with the proper "recommented" coolant for your scooter (antifreeze off the shelf is not good for AL engines). If the distilled water evaporates too much, the engine will get hot enough to cause vapor lock, but not hot enough to register on the engine temp gage. Also if you are using reg gas, you may want to go with Premium for awhile after you get the problem resolved.

Thanks for the post. It's a '95 CH80 Elite. I see nothing in the manual regarding coolant. I will try your suggestion on a higher grade of gas, when and if I get her started again.

A higher octane fuel will not stop vapor lock issues.

95 Elite80 is air cooled - This why when someone posts a problem, they should identify the year, make, and model. Prevents a lot of wasted time and guessing. You should be able to get 45+ with no problem.
