Please be patient with me since this is my first entry on this forum. When I first started reading provo, I read a how to on grinding off what appeared to be standoff tab in the variator. I have looked high and low and cannot locate the article again (could be me - I'm not the swiftest key puncher around). My question is does it apply to the 2005 Zuma and if so, what would I gain? Are there any downsides to doing this? I also was curious about deregulating. I haven't checked my scoot yet but can anyone tell me if the 2005 Z has the washer in the exhaust and the one in the pully. I live in NC and according to law I cannot go over 30 mph on level road (ha ha). Any answers are greatly appreciated.

you say the law says not allowed over 30, but, does it go over 30mph? If so, then it is NOT restricted..... ;no

Here is the link for the variater mod! (http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/showthread.php?t=502) This should answer all of your questions....there are two chapters to read ;)

Thanks for the quick reply Lennox. I will debate with myself as to when I will try this. Just got the Z and am reluctant to get into it yet. Also thanks for the info on the restrictions. I am about 6'1" and weigh 210 and so far I have been pleasantly surprised at the performance. It easily stays at 35 on flat and 30+ on moderate hills. I have had it pegged going down hill but not holding wot for long since it is new. I don't know if I would feel safe going much faster on our lovely roads on a scooter. Again, thanks!
