The spring thats in the clutch, not the springs that hold the shoes back. The big single spring. What part does it play in trany performance? What exactly does it do? Real curious about that and when is a stiffer spring better than stock?

Just haven't grasp that part yet. Maybe the experts can help.

rear center spring has different rpm ranges, it will get better rev on motor, it would be good to change clutch shoe springs , it will need to rejet carb and play roller weights. that find best for you on good spot that pickup on speed.

Thats called the torque spring and dictates how fast the belt "shifts" in the back pulley. The stronger the spring the slower the belt shifts to a higher gear (ie like in a car it would take longer to shift from 1st to 2nd).

You match that up with correct roller weights to get a semismooth acceleration. Too strong a torque spring and too light rollers will cause you to over rev (like redlining a car). Too light a spring and too heavy of rollers cause you to bog (like shifting from 1st to 5th).

With stock parts, use the stock springs. Once you change your pipe, and vario you need to start changing rollers and springs

That helps a lot. And explaines a lot. Now I now what to do about slow exceleration.
Thanks a bunch.
