starts fine, good acceleration, but only goes about 10mph. Has a new carb tried adjusting air/gas mix that didn't do much. If it's on the stand with the back wheel up it's revs up real high and shakes.

ha so check the carb take aprt check the secondary main jets holes are free of sand or other gunk this is what i can think is it a 4stroke or 2 ?of what year? then its goin to take a lot of cranking to fill the carb up with gas before it goin to start so hook up a jumper cable to the 12 car batt this helps me out i have only 2v in my batt dead cant aford a new one yet use the electric starter:) some times i have this problem too just try to ride the bike and bounce your ass up and down hard try to knock out the junk stuck first like see if the pease will pass thurw the over flow some times i can do this and gain all the power back in a five min ride just keep the overflow view open and smell for gas if your carb is wet you might have a stuck float inside the carb by shakein it up and down it may brake free on its own dont do this too hard just sit hard at a stop i have to clen my carb out a lot is the only thing u might need a inline gas filter 3 dolla and five min to pull the carb off the bike done iv done this many times over this year with grate result hay even some times i buy them broken down from dummys they dont run ok 50 bucks right now take it home and boom sand in the carb fixed for pennys some times for free yo its a fast fix id have it runing in ten min

so it sounds like you got this figured out? yet try a new belt if there is damage or lots of black dust its bad simple right,so a figure 8 worn belt wont slip properly and get stuck you might have a bad variator check the movement while revving the motor with cover off keep hand away !!! see if it slips or grabs you might have something stuck between the variator i can only guess

my experience is the your local outside temp makes the rules real cold makes it thicker so thin oil like 5-30 is what i run in my 1.3l four cyndler motor winter here is around -10f below zero at the coldest takein out my battery and bringin it inside to keep warm lol but in the summer 100f i will run 10-30 never ever 10-40 thats for big trucks 5.7l and suv type 350 small block things see my point thin for smaller thick for biger 5 means thin 10 means thick 30 cold is like 40 so 10-40 dead of winter is like 10-50 then more it flows like cold molasses,, royal purple is what i recommended by my friends but i got a 2 stroke so i blow smoke out my pipe is normal thats how it gets any oil at all is thurw the carb oil injector
