kick start troubles

so i finally got a new kick start lever (original one broke, after using it maybe three times) i put it on, and when i kick it, the gears inside slip, like whatever is supposed to catch on whatever else isn't catching.. but it looks fine when i open it up, though i'm not sure what fine is supposed to look like.. .anyone?

the washer looking thing with jagged edges is the kickstartter gear. make sure you did not strip out the inside of it. also make sure the jagged parts have semi sharp edges.......

okay, i'll check, but i'm guessing it is stripped, obviously, as it doesn't work catch like it's supposed to... so where do i get a new one? can i get a "better" one? or do i just buy a stock replacement part from the dealer?

I doubt there are any aftermarket ones of those... a yamaha dealer will have them available...
