Hi there folks. New here but not new to scooters.
I run an MBK Ovetto (or Yam Neos if you prefer).
At the moment it is exhibiting bizarre and annoying symptoms. Kick starts, runs for three seconds and then cuts out. It's an ignition problem folks! Those damn Itals at Polini.
It's just had a new CDI - the last one went pop. This one is going to go the same way if I don't figure out what's going on. There is a big thick earth wire from motor to frame. The two earths (Coil and Stator) are sound and solid. The red & black wire from the CDI is connected to the stock ignition wiring and functions correctly (and has done for about a year since I got the Polini ignition).
Suddenly the other day the thing kept cutting out on tickover and then refused point blank to start. CDI was replaced & now it starts but cuts out (just like it did before it grilled the CDI).
I have a spare coil & symptoms are the same with either one.
...pissed....pissed....pissed....pissed.
WTF is going on ? Why would the ignition start (easilly) and then cut out (on ticover or at revs) - as if you turned the ignition key off ?
I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who has any idea.
