hey everyone im new to the scooter scene (rode my cousin's Aprilia rally 50 with an overbore kit, exhaust, carb, etc, i loved it!) anyways i was looking at a good beginner scooter to ride to school and work to help save some gas money and give me time to rip off the head on my corolla and port and polish it
anyways i have a few questions bout the zip r3i (which i will more than likely get, or a zuma):
1. on some of the online dealers they say that they have a 3 or 6month parts only waranty but the manufacturer has a 1 year waranty, why would they do that?
2. the extra stuff that comes with the scooter, like the "special seat cover", alarm, remote start, the silverstone exhaust, "ABS" brakes, etc, what is the deal with that stuff how much of it is really special, is the exhaust any good, what about the brakes and the "ABS" how is abs possible with a cable brake?
3. whats the best place to pick one of these up (if you can post it, or give me a pm with the answer)
4. how tall are most of you owners? im 6'3" and i just want to make sure im gonna be comfortable on this
5. anybody ride doubles/know the max weight for this
6. how big are the wheels i have seen conflicting accounts of 12" or 13"
7. is the exhaust restricted?
8. how fast is it out of the box, again this is a disputed subject
thanks for all the help
btw, im a Toyota Technician so if anyone needs help with their yoter im certified and am a Toyota Tech school student and can help

I am 6 foot, and weigh about #200. I also ride with my G/F often.... the Zip doesn't mind at all. I mind because my knees are in the leg sheild when riding double. Out of the box 45 is average. My Zip came with 10inch wheels, but I just got a set of stock 12 inchers.
The front brake is hydro, not mechanical. ABS seems to work "ok". The alarm, and remote start is awesome.
Hope this helps some............

The best place to get one is online. That's where I got mine I'll see if I can find the site I got mine from for you.The exhaust is restricted but all you do is unbolt it and just take the washer out and you'll be doing 45-50 depending on weight.I'm not sure whats up with the warrantys but if you modify it that would take it out of warranty anywayz. I've been out of warranty since day one(no worries). They run like a champ. :naught: Make sure you put the sticky notes somewhere safe(like on the fridge)... ;)

They are descent I use to fly around corners at 45+ when it was stock with stock tires. After I got the back tire nice and bald from alot of drifting and some burnouts it didn't handle that good in the rain. :naught:

I bought some great new Michelin Pilot Sport SC tires. Those are the same tires as are used on BMW M series cars. Plus I think they even use those on bikes in the Moto GP series motorcyles. I definitly think they look better and grip better.

4. i fit just fine knees only hit the front of the scoot if im way forward and crouched down
5. its a bit tough on the scoot riding with more than 300lbs (me and my little bro deceded we had to try it to find out how much power would be lost)
7. the exhaust is not restricted
8. today i got up to 46mph going down hill and leaning forward and down but it has no problem crusing at 40mph

I acutully drive a BMK Jazz same thing as a Vento Zip R3i except it has a different body but same frame and motor and everything else. I like to modify my moped. I got a stroker motor in it so its 100cc instead of 50cc. I put some polini parts on it and put a yasuni exsaust on it. It has a top speed of 70-75 mph. I put it on the dyno and it came out as 24 HP. Its still nice if its stock Theres a cover I took off that was around my knees so I have plenty of room now. I actully took the alarm off because it would go off randomly and got annoying and I took the electric start off of mine. Its a great scooter and I never had any problems. There 12 inch wheels. When its stock you can get going 40 but may be alittle faster because I'm 6'1" 270 pounds.
