So, I decided to chop the stock rack... didn't want to but don't see any other way to keep from chopping the body up...
So... I'll have my buddy weld the long bars on tomorrow or so... then cut it to the length I want and then weld the cross bar...
Will post pics soon...

man jered...You GOTTA find some magnesium...The Sparks are gonna look so killer..I know that the old Volkswagen Bus has a Flat engine block that was mag..The old dune buggy dudes in cali used to start them on fire in the dunes..they used to burn for a long time...You could carefully saw Strips off....Hehe..( I am an old school Pyrotech..)...Eventually..we on the Forum are gonna demand a Video of a Smoky burnout..Followed by a wheelie starting some gas on fire....YOU started the Monster legacy..You will go down in Provo history!!!.. :D ..John

yeah... I have decided not to burn the tires... I'm not one for having to replace them often...
I don't mind the $32 a tire... but the $35 shipping kills me...
however the fire wheelie, maybe...

Hey jered...dont you think that the rack is going to break??? or the squar tubing is going to bend??might want to make some cross members between...and if it doesnt bend or break...dont you think that it will be hard to do a wheelie on that litttle point at the bottom...i will take some pics of my stand up scooter that i have and show you the wheelie bar that i made..its nothing too seriouse its a 4 stroke motor and has the same set up as a gokart....has the motor that has a clutch that has a chain connected to it goes down to the sprocket on the wheel and thats it but it is fast in acceleration...

ahhhh this is nothing too seriouse...its one of my inventions..its a gokart motor, chrome harley ape handelbars, with a chrome kickstand, but too much power when ever i hit the gas it does a wheelie and i fell once...so i made a wheelie bar..its so fun...i think you should make yours kinda like this one it has cross members

the pic I posted is just a start...
I'm getting it welded in the morning tomorrow... He's bringing his stuff to my house to do it...
the bars will extend it to about 75 degrees... then have a cross bar just behind the seat and then one at the end....

No pics yet... but I chopped he rack into pieces... so that I had mounts to make the wheelie bar off of...
Finally today my buddie came over and we Tac'ed everything in place...
but since he was arc welding it and forgot his helmet... we just tac'ed the thing in place... and he will bring it back to me in a couple days all finished...
Simply went with 2 bars off of the rear rack and then a cross bar that extends past the edges of the bars... basically looks like a "T" with 2 vertical bars...
I'll post pics when it's all done and finished... plan on painting it flat black as well... so it'll look pretty good... just got some cleaning of the cuts to make before I paint it... so I don't cut myself on the jagged edges....
Placed full body weight on it and it appears strong enough to use as a wheelie bar... so we'll see... Just don't want my fat 200 butt standing on it and it coming loose! You know! but I think it's safe...

heh a wheelie bar I can see the next post after Jered complets the wheelie bar and tests it out the next post will be I crashed heh just make sure everything is square and strong enough to hold your weight the scooters weight and because when you go into a wheelie you will put 2 or 3 times the total weight on that wheelie bar when you first go up then once it is up you will have about 2 times the total weight on the bar being the speed your going and any bumps or holes you hit will put alot of strain on it trust me I know hehe I put a wheelie bar on my Bike once that was acually made for it and I broke it and almost dumped it hehe so just becarful.

as apposed to what type of tubing?
It's better than a flat bar... and round probably not much better...

Welcome and hope you not only enjoy but contribute!
There was a yahoo vs. provo pissing contest going on for a second but all doen with now- all of us our scooterest, the more knowledge we can share the better off all of us are! I think all of us would love to share pricing informaiton, however Provo forums only exist to support Provo's store so we have to do that in PM's.

The gragage floor says daddy and AJ and nick and mommy... not sure what else... my 5 year old was chalking it....
right by the garage door so it's easy to pressure wash off...
I'm scared to pull a hard wheelie like that... I need more practice with little wheelies before I scrape it... and need to make sure it's strong enough... before I go to crazy,,,

May be a strip on a flexible strap of metal that would hang below the bar so every time you pulled it up it would shoot out sparks like a scalded devel
XPS1210
04-16-2005, 07:04 PM
I am thinking that sparks would be cool... but need practice to make it happen....
It sits at about a 80 degree maybe 85 degree angle... which is pretty far back...
Just needs some practice....
Lennox
04-16-2005, 07:06 PM
isn't that a bit steep? I don't think I could hold my fat butt on at such an angle??? I thought about finding the "sweet-spot", then going just a hair past that.....
Have you had a chance to try it out??????????
florida derbi rocket
04-16-2005, 07:08 PM
Jered...(your photos...) Now THATS ART!!...you should chain it to a pole like that :p j
XPS1210
04-16-2005, 07:10 PM
nope... haven't tried it yet....
I think with good foot holds... I could hang onto it okay... between hands holding on... if nothing else a foot on the bar would work great...
we'll see in a day or so... I still am trying to get the perfect tune so it likes the cold weather...
I'm having problems staying running when it's at freezing... last night I rode home with the choke on as it'd die when at idle...
marylandmark
04-16-2005, 07:15 PM
That is steep!
It is going to be 75 Monday- I guess that is warm enough to go riding...

I'm starting to believe the OKO is only gonna be spot-on for about an hour a day. Very sensitive to temp changes. Mine wants a huge pilot.

Ok I seen the pic of the bar Well I will give you mad props if you can hang onto that scoot at that angle heh.
Also that it way to steep of a angle and if you manage to hit that bar with a wheelie and Stay on you will fold either that bar right in half or rip what ever that bars is mounted to off cause with that angle you have not only your full body weight on it but now you have the full weight of your scoot + whatever drag weight when you hit the bar while moving
For now I would call it more of a Cooler rack rather then a wheelie bar
Booya
04-16-2005, 08:08 PM
Or a "pulling someone behind you on roller blades" rack. If you could find someone stupid or brave enough that is.

There is no way to make it longer without being dangerous... it'd kill people from walking into it...
Not sure... if it's not okay to use after a few tests... then I will chop it up and have grab handles only by the seat and call it good...
XPS1210
04-17-2005, 03:29 AM
well, I tried to block the gas tank vent off... which resulted in enough back pressure to kill the scooter when riding at WOT on a major road... not sure why I didn't think of that happening... oops...
pulled the bolt out of the hose and fired right up....
but with going that far back, the tank vent dumps fuel all over... and I have a bad feeling that the sparks would cause an explosion in the tank... and kill me... so I might have to work something else....
Not sure if I can route the vent to make it not spill out fuel when tipped back...
Lennox
04-17-2005, 08:53 AM
just make the end of the hose higher than the tank when in a wheelie position........
XPS1210
04-17-2005, 03:43 PM
I'm thinking a 1 way valve might work... it'd allow air in and fuel to not go out...
might be thinking more into it then I need to but you know....

What would be cool is to pull into a parking spot and pulling it up like the picture rather than putting it on a kick stand. Imagine the look on the faces of people going by. May be you should do that and video the faces of people and post them to the fourm. Now that would get a laugh.
