Well kids I think this is going to be my new scooter...
I picked the Bullet over the Derbi GP1 because of a much higher MSRP of the GP1 and hard to get in stock. I do not drive hard enough or long enough to justify the extra expense of a water-cooled motor.
I picked the Bullet over the Atlantis City- Same bike as the Bullet except for the paint type and scheme and it has a platform to carry things on the back instead of a grab bar. I liked the look of the City- solid grey and none of the green rims and stripes, however they didn't have one in stock.
They had a gold City, black Bullet and a grey Bullet. The 2005 won't be out for 30-45 days and will be about $500 more- not worth it for me just to get the exact color I am looking for...
2004 brand new for $2600 with:
washer removed from the variator
washer that is welded in the pipe removed
performance pipe
re-jet
The seller says he is 210lbs and this combo puts him in the high 50MPH, almost 60MPH range....

Glad to have so many positive responses!!!
I liked the city with the solid colors, however the only one he had in stock was gold... I would rather go with the green/grey graphics than the gold...
Erich sells the 12HP and the 18HP kits for this thing! The dealer will install them for me if I want for $25/hour- about 4 hours job he said...
18HP on this thing would take it to what---80MPH??? WOW! (that is a guess so not sure but has to be quick and fast!)

Hmmmm....
It appears that for about 1/2 of what you have in parts I can get this kit (http://www.provoscooter.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=124) installed pushing close to 18HP....
Just kidding bro!
I wish I could have got my Zuma running this fast so I am still jealous of you! I think this is the best route for me- don't have to tinker with it, 55-60MPH out the box and $2600 out the door. Perfect bike for me but I like the Zuma look better....

notice the 17.5mm carb instead of 14...Nice..
From the dealer:
As to the stock jetting question, both the Bullet and City Atlantis come with a factory 17.5 mm carburetors. The Manhatton (an older discontinued model) have the 14mm carb standard.

your gonna love it! derbi's are the best looking. especially if you mod the looks a bit. if you paint the headlight housing black, but tape it off, (i painted my whole housing, and its not very bright anymore.) also relocate the front signals into the headlight where they belong it makes a huge difference. at least that is my opinion. plus you will kill any other stock scooter out there. spanish know there ****!

Yea...The Tailight turn signals are already incorporated into the Tailight ...Stock...and I think your front Turn signals ..as of 2004..are already in the front light pod..(I have a 2002..but the cups were already there to get the stock rubber holders and do this mod...I just have to grind the old stalks off).....One thing that looks KILLER on the Atlantis model ...is losing the rear Mudflap..I am going to do it..But havent figured out where to put my Tag.....Wow..there is a lot of Derbi posts lately..kinda makes me feel warm and fuzzy...I was alone there for a time.. ::handleba John

Yes- the 2004 has the signals incorporated into the head light and the rear incorporated into the tail light.
pretty cool, sleak look in my opinion!
I will be picking it up this Saturday! It is going to be in the 50's- too cold for me no matter what new toy I have but I might buzz up and down the street a few times...

TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!
I pick up my NEW scoot tomorrow!
I am sort fo excited, however every time I smile I feel like I am getting run over by a Mack truck... Too much "irish cheer" last night at the local pub!
One time I noticed that when I had a hang over, it would go away when I rode my scooter. I thought it was "forced induction" or some thing with the wind blowing in my hair and so on that made me feel better.. Then one day I noticed whenever I ride my scooter hungover, most of the time we were heading back out to another bar....

 Well I want to know why my stock 2004 Derbi Atlantis-City would only do 35 with no mods when I keep hearing that others would do more with the mods still intact...I have removed the washer and ordered a pipe 2 weeks ago from Erich but still have not received it. checked for the washer in the pipe and did not see it......also my derbi has the front turn signals on the side not on the light as described previously. I can now do about 50 with the washer removed, waiting for the stage 1 kit to hopefully do 55-60.
I like the idea for moving the signals so I will look into doing this. Anyway, I love the 70mpg that I get dropped my gas money from $90+ a week in my 2004 Frontier to $15 a week on my little putter as the guys at work call it. So it is worth it to me.

GRRRRR....
The shop I am dealing with is GREAT- dealing directly with the owner of the joint...
He ordered the Metrakit SP pipe and had it overnighted to him. His distributor sent it regular ground- USPS at that. UPS give free tracking numbers where USPS it is an option..
So- he called Friday 3 times- 9AM, 1PM and 8PM to let me know the pipe was not in yet. He had a trace put on it to try to locate it. He called me Saturday at 10AM and 3PM to let me know the pipe did not arrive but they did find out it was sent regular ground and should be there tomorrow- Monday.
So- it looks like I am going to go up there next weekend.. Boo-hoo because I want my new scoot!

I was told by my dealer that all 50cc Derbi's have a washer on the variator and the washer in the pipe. This is to keep the belt from riding up too high which in turn would give it a higher top speed and to restrict air flow- keeping the speeds and HP down as well...
They do this because most states have a law that states if it is under 1.5HP or only go 35MPH you don't need a motorcycle endorcement.
......also my derbi has the front turn signals on the side not on the light as described previously.
Sure it is 2004? I have not seen any 2004's that don't have the intergrated head light/turn signals and tail light/turn signals . Before 2004 it looks like the tail light/turn signals were intergrated but not the head light and turn signals?
I can now do about 50 with the washer removed, waiting for the stage 1 kit to hopefully do 55-60.
How much do you weigh? I don't have my scoot yet but the dealer told me that it would go 55-60 with the Metrakit SP pipe and variator washer removed. I am 190LBS.

I know I know...
It is 88 miles up the road for me to get it- too much traffic during the week.
I would hit traffic going towards DC, then the other side of DC towards Baltimore then out of Baltimore towards the suburbs... The traffic between Bmore and DC sucks- go people trying to get to one city out of the other city, it is like double rush hour....

Well I removed the washer on the variator which got me up to between 45-50. I weigh in at a wopping 205 , but when I have my daughter on the back I still go 45-50 so the weight is not an issue because she is 130 pounds....15.. this will be hers in a few months.
I got my SP1 kit and it did not include a bracket to support the pipe. I am conderned that I am missing this and do not want to run with it. I have emailed Erich about this but no response as of yet.
And yes it is a 2004, I know this because 1) the dealer told me so...lol 2) the title states that it is a 2004......3) the registration also states that it is a 2004.
The turn signals on the front are not integrated into the head light housing...although it does look like it should be, my turn signals are just below the hand grips on each side of the handlebars.
I am hoping that as soon as I hear from Erich that I will be going 55-60 so that I can have free reign on the surface streets of Phoenix.

Yea..
I got my 04 and by law the turn signals are not intergrated either...
I was told that in 04 they started intergrating them but must only be in Euro models. Check out this tread... (http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/showthread.php?t=2009)

DO NOT RUN THE SCOOTER WITHOUT a bracket in place supporting the exhaust... it can cause exhaust leak issues and damage your cylinder...

yeah I know, I put the stock pipe back on so that I could run it. Now it runs wierd because I had already installed the new rollerweights.
