(Not sure where to put this so putting it here.....)

Here is my story-

I have a grey 2004 Yammy Zuma with 500 miles on it- NICE scoot for what it is, 50cc little runner.

I was going to mod this thing with MHR, the Polini, then a mix of the 2 and so on. I am not going that route for several reasons- but mainly I don't like to mess with scoots. I want to get on, hit the start button and ride the snot out of the thing!

A modd'ed 70cc scoot is too much work for me. I won't work on it so to get it installed I have to order the parts, ship the parts along with my motor/tranny to my top-secret scooter-worker-on-guy to make it work, then ship it back to me and then I have to put it back in and so on..... Then adjust the carb every thing the temp changes 2 degrees, check some thing about the spark plug colors and all that other junk... Not for me so not going to go that route...

So here is where I am...

I am looking for a 2 stoke that I can mildy modify- as in a pipe and few things for the tranny to keep it in the powerband....

Any ideas?

I would love to find a 100cc Zuma/BWS (http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/showthread.php?t=182)- 7.2Hp with a top speed of 56MPH stock!

I am also thinking about the Derbi GP1 50cc (http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/showthread.php?t=1879)- 7.5HP out 50cc on this thing!! This thread (http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/showthread.php?t=1691) has a 230lbs man going mid-40's stock. I am only 190lbs so I should get closer to 50MPH stock. A mild mod on it and mid-high 50's for sure.. A 12+HP kit from provo is only $529! (http://www.provoscooter.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=123&osCsid=8c62bc777e909befcc2325af90262c0a)

Just looking for some ideas....

I'm not sure what you should do... I love to tune things... so I'm happy the way I went... however looking back at the money and time invested... a 125 or 200cc scooter would have been cheaper over all... and I'd still have a warrenty!

[QUOTE=jered]I love to tune things... QUOTE]

I was hoping your new orders were going to send you to Maryland just for that reason!!!

I had it all planned out- we could go riding, you would get pissed because you had to wait on me all the time and then modd'ed my scoot for me!

Hey Mark..just so your not mis-led...the 2005 GP-1 has CHANGED! (thats an understatement)..you can still find used '03-'04s that are still the older style..check out the derbi thread.."2005 GP-1 isnt a scooter anymore"..there are some posted pics...John

if your looking for stock speed why not just buy a bigger scooter? i like the zuma cause i can legally park on the sidewalks, thats the only advantage i see in having a little scooter... having more power, better shock travel, better brakes ie ABS, all from a little larger scooter probably means a safer riding machine... well i donno little scoot is easy to get thru traffic but not that much easier than a motorcycle.

Um...

That is what I trying to do- I am looking for a 100cc Zuma or the likes....

I don't want a motorcycle or a "big" 250cc scooter- basicly I LOVE my 50cc Zuma and the 100cc is a tad bigger with higher stock speed- exactly what I am looking for...

I wish We could Import the Yamaha Aerox...I originally posted about a 100cc version..that I had heard from on other Tuning forums..but a quick trip to the yamaha Euro website only has a 50cc version...unless those MBK/Nitro Aeroxes are taken new and Modified??...I'll do some more research.. ;) John

Just buy a Stella (from Erich, of course) for less than 3 grand, stick a Simonini pipe on it and voila... a 75+ mph 2 stroke with that classic scooter look! Total price... probably less than $3100.

Stella- not for me- UGLY! I like the sporty Zuma style, not the retro look.

I think they have the BW-100 in Canada and Mexico, however I can't find much on any of them. I have been in contact with someone from motorcyclephilapines board who might be able to get me one. I told him we would have to use escrow.com and he was fine with that...

I have to wonder if registering a Zuma 100cc 2 stroke would be possible in the USA, especially in states with emissions testing.

Or is the 100cc Zuma a 4 stroke? (I'm totally unfamiliar.)

It is a 2 stroke. Here are the specs (http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/showthread.php?t=182)

I am guessing it comes down to $$$$.. They just didn't import them to the US because they didn't think there would be a market for them- just guessing...

The is very little profit on these scooters. They are mainly getting us in the showroom to learn how to ride and the hopefully move up in the future to another one of their products.

Interesting specs, Mark... thanks. Well... Yamaha already did the Stage 3 part. Stick a good pipe and vario on and you'd probably be good to go. Possibly might need a bigger carb too. 14mm is pretty small. 7.2 hp for a 100cc 2 stroke seems a very mild state of tune. I'd imagine it could easily be doubled. Find out if you can make it street legal. If so then go for it! ;)
