I'll start off with a little back story...

I just acquired a 2004 Geely Retro (Model: JL50QT-21) with a 2 stroke (D1E41QMB Engine). I bought it from some kid for $150.00, and had to have the ignition switch repaired for $16.00... So I'm in for $166.00...

As I've been reading a lot of forums, and Geely scooters seem to have a really bad rep. I'm not really sure why, other then the fact that they are cheap and Chinese, but then again so are a lot of scoots these days.

I would really like some info. on any performance mods. or tuning that can be done to this scoot (Not to be told to buy a different scooter). I would also like to know if there are other similar engines out there that may have interchangeable parts with min. modifications. I'm realistic, I know that going 80-100 MPH is not in the cards. I would like to see around 45 MPH on the flat, just enough to keep up with most traffic I'd encounter. I already checked the exhaust system for any restrictors and didn't find any. I was just looking for some good input or advice...

2StrokeSmoke,
well lets see, i have 6 geeley 2t's i use for rentals
do you know if you have the
chain drive ones? or not...
the chain drives are not easily mod-able ,mostly due to the chain drive itself

Like harry said it depends on your motor. I have 2 2004 Geely mopeds and their motors are completely different. If you have a jog type motor just change the transmission gears to a lower ratio like 6.5:1 and adjust your clutch weights. It should cruise at 45 mph. Then if you change the carb to a 21mm and adjust your weights again, it should be even better.

If you have the chain driven clutch type good luck. I need help with this one too.
