So, I want to know it I can get away with painting my tranny case?
I want it flat black like the rest of the scooter... so it's "stealth" or something like that...
anyway, will it cause issues with making the tranny overheat? I'd like to do the cover and maybe the rest of the tranny/crank case... but not 100% yet on how much I want to do...
Pinky, lennox?
any thoughts?

Several guys have painted them with no problems at all. When vented, I've never had the cover too hot to touch, so it stays under 150F. You could get it powder coated or black chromed, for not too much money. There's a clear plastic cover available, too.

not interested in covering it... just wanted to know if painting it flat black the the rest of my scooter could cause over heating issues... I'd feel pretty stupid to overheat the tranny due to painting it... you know...
I do have it vented... so I think it'll be okay... I have 6 holes by the kickstart gear and 3 in the back by the clutch...
So, I think I'll try it in the next couple days... and see how it turns out... Might drill a couple more holes to assist more with venting as I really don't want to toast the over range/belt parts... and have to order replacements.

The more holes the merrier. I have a total of 40, and keep adding to it.

doesn' that make it weak?
after so many holes I'd think it'd be weak and not offer any support to the scooter... Or are you simply not hitting the reenforced areas?

looks like our tranny , swing arm side was cast with lots of reinforcements. i would think the outside cover is just to keep dirt out.. i bet even without it, it would work fine..

I'm careful not to hit the webbing. My rear holes are high and behind the clutch so it doesn't get drip. The front ones are low around the kickstarter and on the front of the case.

I'll take a pic when I get a chance. 40 holes really isn't a lot. Racers carve that cover up so there's practically nothing left. I haven't added more, yet, because I'm not sure it won't mess up the flow pattern. When you get some power you either make a bunch of holes, or change rollers weekly and belts monthly. The heat also kills your torque spring and shortens clutch life a bunch.
