Mikuni Carburetors have an enlarged manifold surface giving them higher performance in lower rpm“s than the Dell“Orto drum carburetors and are smaller than the VHSA/VHSB. Also the 27, 30 and 38er Mikuni“s are powerjet carburetors, that lean up the mix with a secondary jet when running at full pull. The carburetors can be adjusted through the main jet. The inlet size of the 32er Mikuni is almost double compared to the 30er PHBH from Dell“Orto. 211er motors get along fine with the standard adjustment of the 35er. Try, try, try.

Not that Jered will ever do it (he probably understands the mechanicals of the Zuma better than any factory certified mechanic), but I think it would be priceless to watch him take his Zuma to a Yamaha shop, just to see the look on the mechanic's face when he first looks at it.

"ummmm... sir... I know it says Zuma on there, but that ain't no Zuma!"

I asked a race tuner about this. He's run OKOs and Keihins with the powerjet connected and disconnected. Neither he nor his riders could tell a difference. Who knows? I can tell you that the OKO has a seriously good midrange. I never get a chance for long WOT runs, so no observations there.

actually funny you say that... as I'm taking it to my dealer to show it off when spring finally get here!

They won't even be able to tell what it is...

I can't wait!

Is my 24MM OKO carb a power jet carb?

pinkymingeo

Yes. That's what that tube on the front of the carb is. I thought the 125 main was gonna do, but not so. It's great until the scooter is fully warmed, then it's lean. The sure tipoff is when you open the throttle from stop, and nothing happens. Can be thrilling. I ordered bigger. Should be here tomorrow.

What size are you going to order now? 130?

What do the numbers actually mean?

I'm sure 128, the next size, is gonna do it, but I ordered 130/132 as well. Should have done it last time. Shipping costs more than the jets. Keihin jets are sized like Dellorto. The jet's hole is that mm fraction. A 128 is .128mm. Mikuni and Arreche jets are sized by flow rate, and the sizes don't correspond to Keihin/Dell at all.

I will most likely order my pilot jets tommorow(today). How much do they, sudco, charge for shipping?

pinkymingeo

Go priority mail. It's about $7. They get $15 for UPS second-day. I don't know how much slow jets are, but mains cost $3.78. If you think you're gonna need some stuff, it's cheaper to buy all at once.

I don't know what you're doing for a choke, Sly, but they also have the parts to convert to cable choke.

The choke I have is stock.

Do you have a filter on your carb? I am running an open carb no filter.

The button choke that comes with it? How can you use it? I'm using a foam pod filter mounted in my seat box. The 90deg rubber elbow I got with the 24mm Mikuni just barely stretched over the OKO bell. I had already made the inlet for the Mikuni with 1 1/2" pool hose and 1 1/2" PVC fittings. Works very well, and it's extremely quiet. The only way to mount a filter is with an elbow. You need to find a piece of radiator hose or equivalent just a little over 1 3/4" id. If you don't have an air filter you probably need a main jet in the mid-130's.

I don't agree...

I actually mounted a K&N straight filter onto my scooter...

it was on ebay... here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4529006110&category=34284&sspagename=WDVW) <-- this is strickly a informational listing... it's closed and can't be bid on! Just so you guys know...

unfortunately I already pitched the box so I don't remember the part number... 11XX was it...

anyway, I trimmed a little material off of the rear foot peg area... and no it didn't effect the strength of the foot pegs...

it fits directly onto the carb.. and sticks out abour 2.5 or 3 inches...

works perfectly...

anyway, I'm just hoping it'll work with the 24mm oko I have coming... Since it's on the 24mm mikuni now...

But knowing my luck, it won't work...

You can get KandNs that mount at an angle. Should work, but it's going to be very, very loud. Also subject to getting wet.

Jered..I cant say enough about our American plumbing supply industry...while doing the house restoration thing I have been to numerous Plumbing supply houses..(NOTE** NOT home depot..or Lowes)..I have seen various products that are very similar to the Rubber/Vinyl we use for manifolds and air filters..Reducers..elbows..adapters..they are of course acid and probably also fuel resistant..most come with hose clamps..I know you live in the tundra..but all of this is online..I know a company called Noland is national..Of course my brain is on "Scooters" when I am in one of these places..hehe..Anyway...the counter guys don't think I'm crazy..they want the sale...and ...flow is flow....Just thought I'd put my fittings experience in there.. ;) John
