perhaps Im expecting too much from these little beasts.... but when I'm taking a turn at around 40 (easy bends with bumps) my zuma feels VERY unstable... not because I only have 2 inch wheel travel but I think the scooter is flexing alot by the neck/floor board...
has anyone just welded in a beam from the neck to the motor mount area? I would think it will be rock solid just like the motorcycles. I will loose the capability to haul stuff between my legs... but then maybe i can make it detachable. swing out like some roll bar style..

The primary trouble with Zuma handling is the stock tires, which flex like spaghetti. The shock is, actually, pretty good. The forks are too soft, but it's a lot of work to change to heavier oil. I doubt the frame flexes. There really isn't much to flex. It only runs from the steering head to the engine mount, and the tubing is pretty heavy.

yeah, I doubt the frame is flexing as well. I just "re-built" a wrecked Adly, and now I have a wrecked Zuma and neither had frame damage! Forks on the other hand will crumble like foil!

A frame is surprisingly cheap. Never priced forks, but they're probably more. For anybody who doesn't know, you can go to yamaha-motor.com for the online parts catalog then price them at bikebandit.com. Sometimes it's nice to know how much stock stuff is.

pretty neat thanks for the link.
lennox, when your braking really hard, you do feel the front end bending right? i can feel the handle bar going away from me, after all there is enormous amount of torque by leverage on that front head set. so feeling that and when im hitting the bumps i just thought the front end wasn't as tight as it can be... but you may be right, maybe its just the forks and tires doing a crappy job.
either way it doesnt make me feel confident to take turns at 30+ mph.

hey PM me and will send you a link where you can get the frame brace you are talking about. in europe all the racing scooters have them because no matter what scooter brand you get it will flex.
