I bought two zumas about 5 months ago and I bought 2 stage 2's delta clutches cf reeds just about everything provo has on its site planning to install it on both me and my wifes scoot. After I installed everything on mine she decided it was too loud so she didnt want it. I sent back some stuff and ended up with me a over range and an up gear kit, anyways let me get to the point. I am needing to get the scooters speed up to 45mph to ride on the highway around here. I still have some cf reeds and a techmo variator That I can put on hers. If I put them on there remove the snorkel in the airbox and drill a hole on it, up jet and drill a bigger hole in the exhaust should I be there? What weights should I start out with in the variator? What jet? I am wanting to get this done in the morning being it is going to be 75 here so it will be a good day to ride.

You're not likely to make 45mph without a pipe. Removing the snorkel, drilling holes and such will make more noise, but not more speed. Reeds won't make any difference at all. The only mod for the stock cylinder that actually helps some is removing the head gasket. You don't need it, and you'll notice the extra torque. A vario is good for acceleration much more than top end. With stock engine and pipe 5.5gr is about right. I ran a pipe on the stock engine and didn't find it loud at all. More decibels than stock, but not in the least offensive. With pipe and vario a Zuma does 45 easy and overall performance is much, much better than stock. Combine that vario with an RS50 or ZX, 4.5gr, torque spring and some heavier clutch springs and the scooter will be a great ride.

if you dont want to get yourself a pipe and make noise get yourself a set of gears. you will get 45mph with as set of gears no problem, esp cuzz you got tranny parts to help spin the motor. you can do 45 without making any extra noise.
