Hello,

I recently aquired a used scoot. Its a 2003 FeiYing 125cc (sold as Destin Xtreme). I was told it was a GY6 but now i'm not so sure. The engine id number is FY151QMI as seen here:

Whereas all the GY6 numbers I see are 152QMI or 157QMI/J.

There seems to be some extensive knowledge on this board, so i figured i'd ask about this motor. It appears to be a GY6, short-case, top mounts. It has "GY6" stamped inside the belt cover.

Essentially what I want to know is whether Gy6 perfomance parts (bore kits, cranks, etc) will fit this motor.

Only thing i can find (in english) when googling 151qmi is a couple of eBay products. They seem to be listed for Yamaha Vino 125s, but the Vino motors i've found pictures of don't look anything like my motor... (i don't think i'm supposed to link to other stores here, so just search "151qmi" on ebay to see what i'm talking about).

Thanks for any info.

For comparison to a Vino 125 you can look at one of our products: http://www.provoscooter.com/scooters/psr-150cc-performance-cylinder-vino-125.html

I don't have any personal experience with the 151QMI. I do know that there is quite a bit of variation in GY6s. I'm not sure if all the engines stamped 157QMJ are the same and all the 152QMIs are the same but I know there are many "GY6" scooters that have slight variations in their build.

Because of the lack of knowledge out there about GY6 compatibility, we are willing to work with our customers to make sure they aren't stuck with parts that don't fit.

PS: I used the word variation in this post two times. When I did a quick proof read I noticed I had typed variator in both places. I think i've been working with scooters for too long. ;;p
