Hi everybody. I was at a abandoned vehicle auction and picked up a Vento ZIP Gt5 for $160.00. I just had to charge the battery and she is raring to go. The auction catalog says its a 2000 but i need to verify the year.

The scooter has a few scuff marks however the worst problem in a crazy digital gauge cluster ( sometimes rev counter always at zero and speedo/odometer not working) There is however some condensation in the cluster. Also the oil light keeps coming on despite the fact that oil is full almost to the top.

Ant advice on what i should do first maintenance wise? Thanks

Welcome to the world of owning a scooter. My scooter was given to me by a guy at work who did not want it anymore (1985 Honda Elite). The other a 50cc yamaha razz $25 from a friend who found in someones garbage. I will say this the best thing to do is to find a service manual for it and start geting your hands dirty. To find the year some one should be able to tell by VIN number. From what I noticed usually the year is next to the VIN number.

When the GT5 came out there were several digital cluster problems (yea the tach also). The company was directly sending new batch clusters to owners for a short while.I guess it will still be available but not waranteed.

Killer deal BTW!
