So, I got brave and thought I'd go for a ride to my yamaha dealer...
which is a good 10 miles 1 way...
I've installed but not tuned the engine yet... keep in mind...
So I start on my hike... the .6 miles to the gate so I can legally ride as it's against the law on base right now... down town, they don't care... if you're dumb enought to ride on ice, they let you...
anyway, so I get out the gate... and fire it up... get on... give it some gas.. and she revs like a MUG... and goes for second and starts to choke...
so I try again... and again... HO HUM... So I baby it to the parts store (about 1 mile away) and do a plug chop, thinking it's WAY rich... and it wasn't.... so I loosen the carb mounts and fight to get the needle out to adjust that... FINALLY get it out... and lower the needle 2 rings as it was pretty grey...
I finally get it all back togeather and test it and sounds good... so I take back off down the road... and go about a half mile and it just doesn't feel right...
so I pull into Fred meyers parking lot and pull the jet out... it's a 130 in there and my next smallest is a 120... so I try it... still not right, in fact worse... so I put the 130 back in...
anyway, I also lower the needle 1 more ring (now on the lowest ring) and sounds better...
I push it out of the snow pile I was working on and get on and ride... Give it some gas... and the rear tire goes all over, didn't dump it but almost! PHEW!!!
Get on the road and go about another mile or so... Still not right... pull the plug and it's a red-choco color.. so it's okayish... not grey or white!
anyway, so I decided to leave it as is and ride home... I rode the 2 miles or so back to the gate... got off and walked my .6 miles back to my house...
my 8.3 mile trip including the 1.2 miles I pushed it... lasted about 2.5 hours! with all the tuning time! Oh well...
I'd go tear into it and make sure she's okay but I need to get ready for the family who is returning tonight! Thank god... I miss them...!
So anyway, I got to ride today in Anchorage alaska! in about 38 degree weather with ice on the roads... (I drove the roads in my car and looked to make sure there was little to no ice on them... so I knew I would get suprised or anything...) never did make it to the dealer! Oh well.. that'll come later!
