i have a 1986 honda spree with a fresh bbk install, i was wondering who has done a pulley mod and how much you took off and what kind of performance you got. i asked somewhere else and got 2 differant answers, 1 was 1/8 inch off and the other was 3/16 off. the perma spacer measures 3/32 so you do the math. huh?

what pulley mod that gives me a idea. well i had already been thinking about it. but it requires cutting the case by the front pulley and some of the front kick cover off. shorten the drive boss out of a honda elite motor. and use the veriator from the elite but you would have to shave the diameter of the veriator down a bit. id say this would have to be shaved by a lathe or something to keep it closely to perfect balance. that way it does not vibrate or anything. Ive been wanting to try this for a while but i don't have a extra motor or case to just start cutting on the only 1 i have. but I'm all about chance. do to the fact that i have several bikes. and am not without a bike if i started this project. im currently on 2 projects right now but this one wouldnt be much maybe i should try it sone as im on the christmas spending on my family so my prodjects r on hold do to the $. this project would cost nothing.

Unless im mis-understanding, you are talking about a drive face shave? If you are, I wouldnt hesitate to do it. Worst that can happen is it doesnt perform how you want. In that case you just shim it out however much you shaved off the pully and you are back to where you started.
