Ok.... when the new boards went live, Jered and I had basicly the same set-up on our Zumas. I was running a good 5mph faster though??? I think I figured out why.
Below is a pic of 3 bushings. 2 of them are from Techno vari's, and the other is from the Adly Moto. Notice the restrictor washer is part of the bushing on the Adly one.
Let me get to the point. Techno Vari's must not have good quality control....as you can see they are not exactly the same lenght. Jered, do you think this was where the 5+MPH was coming from?

I have to ask... were the 2 Technomoto bushings from the same design? Perhaps Technomoto redesigned the vario and changes were made. That would mean it was not a quality control deficiency, merely a change of specification.
You know I'm leery of the Technomoto vario... but after recent discussion with someone we both respect I'm not so sure their product is junk. Cheap, maybe... but I'm not so sure if I'm ready to write them off.

Hi Erika! :8wave:
Don't get me wrong I am not "bashing" them.... I just noticed this, and thought I would share my observations.... most people do not get the opportunity to have 2 of the same part sideXside.
That is a good point about changing spec. That could be the case. I dont think I still have BOTH boxes, maybe only one..... I'll check though.

Length of the part should not affect top speed, but could affect acceleration (and fit). The movable pulley will get as close to the fixed pulley as the weights will move it, regardless of length. The overrange vario's is a good bit longer than the regular Multivar, which is why the starter clutch has to go. Same top speed potential, though.

Pinky... I have to ask... you seem to be prosylitizing the OverRange. I came into this determined not to enlarge my cylinder. I have access to lots of machines that go very fast.
If I were to install the Over Range on my Vino, would I see a performance gain? I'm happy with my top end gain... just dissapointed with my bottom end.

I doubt it. You might not like it at all. The stock torque driver holds revs down. Even with a lot of porting I couldn't get the T6 out of the upper 10's. With the overrange on the same cylinder I went to low 12's. Unless you have a cylinder that wants to rev above the 10's I think it's probably a waste of a whole lot of money.

lennox... I think that the longer shaft would cause you better accelerations... not a higher speed as pinky pointed out... as the front pulley closes the same reguardless of how long the center bushing is...
I'm thinking a pipe difference might have been one thing... maybe a leaner tune as your cylinder melted faster... LOL! other wise... I think that'd be it... maybe the longer shaft helped kick the RPM's a little higher due to a longer upshift or something but I doubt it....

well, at least it made for some good discusion.
Now, what about the shaft with the washer built in .... bench grinder? A hacksaw wont touch it! ;no

Lennox...I have removed something similar when My welder friend and I were making a trailer for him..I dont know how strong that washer is..but we were able to carefully crush it inside the sleeve slowly with a bench vise..we had to remove and retighten it several times but were succesful in not kinking or bending the inner sleeve.....Just a Thought ..we went SLOW..!! it is hardened steel, and the slightest nick in the "sleeve" will hinder the vari from sliding smoothly...... I think when I have some "shop" time, I will bench grind it off. I am in no big rush because this is for the Adly, and it is only used as a "spare" scoot. :naught:
