Friend of mine just put in an order for a 2005 Zuma (BW is what they call them here in canada) I just had o couple of questions.

I notice on the zuma that the speedo reads all the way upto 80Kmph vs the vinos 60kmph. Does anyone know what speeds the zuma reaches stock??? I'm wondering this because i've wanted to get a stage 1 for my vino this spring, but if the Zuma will already come with more power i am thinking of making the switch to a zuma and modding that.

bascailly what are the pros and cons between the zuma and vino besides the size and styling?

A stock zuma, restricted, will go about 30 m.p.h. for it to be street legal in most states. If you derestrict it by removing the washer in the exhast and remove the washer in the tranny by the variator then it should be hitting around 45 mph with lots more power then when it was restricted.

NO WAY!!!! ;no
The only way you'll hit 45 on a stock Zuma is going down a big hill!

38-42 MAX!!! Is more like it. I hate to split hair over a few mph, but I believe in realistic numbers.

Weight difference is very noticeable. The Zuma weighs abit more. If I remember correctly they use the same motor, gearing, and all that. Thats all the bit of info I can give you (being a scooter n00b and all).

Similar motor, the tranny's are different lenghts... I think the gearing is abit off as well.....

I second Lennox, my zuma was stock until few days ago.. it varied from 37 to 40, with a tail wind i think i hit 42.. but never over that.. no hills in chicago! :) now however... with the stage 2... i have been getting on the expressway to reach downtown.. i live 2 miles from the loop.. but using it cuts so much time.. with a on ramp i get to max speed and i keep it till the exit.. kinda scary and im pretty sure illegal.. but time is money! jk
ps, speedo is pegged now so i dont know what exact mph yet... i need a friend to drive next to me :)

Besides... my understanding is the Zuma is'nt restricted like the Vino, at least in the USA.

the Vino goes faster, easier than the zuma... if you are planning on modding it anyway, the vino will be faster for less money than the zuma...

but the breaks are not as good....

Funny... compared to my old Honda Twinstar's brakes, my Vino's brakes are great. The Twinstar was the Rebel's forerunner. Solid little motorcycle, but the brakes are the worst of any bike I've ever owned... drums front and rear, and crumby ones at that.

I was ROUNDING, hence the Around part. :ulp

it's all good.. most zuma's do a max of 42ish on flat... and around 45-50 downhill and even less around 30 on uphills...

so mph is all relative to the grade of incline your on... LOL!

NOW PLAY NICE! Or I'll have to play mean... HEHEH!

But the most important factor is what you like best. Go with whichever scooter fits your style.

pst.... the VINO is for sissy guys... ROFLOL! On a real man could ride a zuma....

oh wait... these are all scooters we are talking about.... NEVER MIND! you have to be a real man to proudly ride one....

so it doesn't matter which as long as your happy with it...

Funny... this thread just brought back memories from when I was 9 or 10 years old... daddy had a friend who owned a scooter... I remember it was blue... it was early 60s... and he used to take me for rides on it. Those were my very first motorbike rides! Wonder what it was... Vespa, Cushman, Lammy... heck, maybe it was a Topper! LOL

I had forgotten all about that. His name was BB Long.

p.s... didn't mean to get off topic. Carry on. ;)
