I upgraded to a silver 125 from a 50 about a month or so ago,
it had only 26 kms on the clock, and a big scrape down the side. (on right hand panel and heat sheild) I'd say the previous owner had layed it down on its side the first week they had it then garaged it afterwards for 2 years.
Well it has just gone over 1000kms and a friend of mine who owns a panel shop offered to repaint it for me. He did it for mates rates (which in Australia is a carton of beer). Seeing as though he was going to be mixing up some paint he asked me if I wanted a different colour. Why not! was my reply.
Pulling all the panels off was fairly easy, except the rear part of the front wheel cover. The brake line goes through a hole in the panel and attach to the caliper. I didn't want to pull apart the brake lines or disassemble the caliper. The caliper will fit through this hole, but it takes a bit of force to get through.
Choosing a colour was tough. There are so many nice scoots on here that have custom paint. I didn't really considered flames black like Vino A Go Go, I'm not cool enough :(
I wanted a nice modern take on a classic colour. I thought of yellow, beige, gold, tan but ended up going with a VW Passat colour called Granite which is a really nice metalic silvery green.
Anyways a few days later, my mate has painted up all the panels, and also resprayed the scratched muffler cover in black. Put it all back together and it looks awesome.
Will post pics soon.
