i have that 19mm arrache carb. i bought a auto choke kit... but at this cold temps 30's its still pretty hard to start the bike... it cranks for a few seconds.. sometimes much longer... stock i was able to start it with a kick start.. but now i can't...

do i need to install a primer like some of u have? is that the answer?

If you have the performance airbox on your carb try and compress it against the carb. This acts as even more of a choke. Cold weather makes it harder to start two-strokes. When it gets warmer out it should start up easier.

When I had the 19mm I began with the autochoke. Hated it. Went to manual choke and had no problems.

Since this place does not sell ANY scooter parts (except OEM) I will post the name. RivaYamaha.com has them. As Jered said, the auction sites mights be a bit cheaper ;)

primer kit, is this the kind of things your talking about? From my understanding you need to push down that needle in the carb right?
Item number: 4529536890
but i have seen peoples scooters on this page with the choke mounted else where.. so to do this.. do i remove my auto chock assembly, then mount that lever where ever, mount the blue tube to where the auto choke was at? it fills that big hole where auto choke was at???

seems pretty cheap enough to try though..
thanks for this tip once again! :)

i was reading little more about primers.. i guess its just a small gas pump.. that skirts gas into the cylinder... so i would need to tap the intake manifold to install this? i think we have a rubber intake mani. where do u put it? and leave the auto choke in its place then? just disconnected?

man so many questions.. :)

Jered or Lennox will verify this..but I remember them mentioning the primer coming with a "T" connection..to put in line with the main fuel line..

the "T" supplies the primer with the fuel..... the squirt end either goes to the manifold (aftermarket ones have an extra nipple) or to the oil injection line on the carb (only if you pre-mix)

i see! thanks for that info. so i need to now buy a aftermarket intake... are the sizes the same or are there bigger ones that may improve the flow?

you can buy a "nipple" and drill into the stock intake... you should be able to get them at a motorcycle shop and maybe at an auto parts store...

They are tiny little metal or plastic pieces that allow you to hook up a hose onto the intake...

If you need a pic I can post one but it'll be till after the 3rd when the wife gets back with my camera...
