My vento zip isnt cranking correctly...It seems to be a slow cranking, like a ch chchch chchc ch...instead of a chhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, is it doing this because the TEMP is a 31 degrees F and the scooter just hangs in the garage, so its pretty cold...And if its not cranking right could that mean the gas mixture isnt making it to the cylinder for combustion....And does the scooter NEED the crankcase cover on it to start?...And has anyone made a damn HOW TO for the installation of the kickstarter return spring yet?!

The cold definitly isn't helping any, but it should still start. Your problem might just be that your battery is low, I know that is what was wrong with mine. Also you don't need the transmission cover just to start up your scooter. You only need it on to use the kick start. Since it is so cold out spray a little bit of starter fluid into your carb and then try to start it up. If it still doesn't do that then charge up your battery and retry.

Still try the starting fluid. The cold might be slowing it down a little bit if you haven't ridden it in the past week or two.

Do not use ETHER!! Ether (starting fluid) has no lubrication properties and is like running without oil..... only doing this once or twice might not hurt your motor, but do not make a habit of it ;) ;no

Yes, if you use it every start and use like a whole bottle, then it will damage your engine. Once your engine starts up the ether is gone and your oil pump and normal gas take over and they do the lubrication of the cylinder and everything else. I do agree that it the ether has no lube or anything but the piston will drop and get oil in there, so you MIGHT get a full rotation of the piston.

Do not run your scooter withought the transmission cover, The rear pully where the clutch is sits in a bearing in the transmision cover for support so it can get bent it you run it without the cover........... :---

Shayandaman, this is interesting....

The Vento's have this bearing, so do MZ's, and Adly Moto's. The Yamahas do not. The only thing I can see this bearing doing, is keeping perfect balance on the rear pully. I THINK it only reduces noise and vibration. Running without the cover (for testing purposes only) should have no adverse effect.....

Well Im not that familiar with yamaha scooters, but as you said it keeps the vibration down, then if you run it without the cover, it will vibrate and woble and it could get bent, right? <--- just a thought. And yea, running without cover just to test it should not do any harm, but I was just saying that it could get bent if he took it for a run. I mean its better to be safe than sorry, just a couple of bolts anyway.

no doubt, if it is there, useit! ;) The yamaha tranny is setup the same except for this "stud" and bearing it rides in.....

Have any Yamaha owners had "bending issues"? So far, I have not :ll ;no
