if you do make the mod... only take 1/2 of the posts off... if you take them all the way off it will cause issues of the bushings coming off and breaking at WOT....

other than that... I saw no issues from doing this.... you could also try removing the electric start gears and placeing a washer behind the variator... which is how the over range kit is set up.... Don't know that anyone has tried this before but it will allow the belt to sit lower in the variator and give a "lower" take off gear like doing the mod but it's not permenent... if it doesn't work just put it back....

I did the modification to my variator and grinded the posts off all the way and I have gone 65+ mph with the same variator and i have not had any issues with the bushings coming off or anything.........just thought I should mention. :---

I broke all 3 of my bushings that came with the variator... they are smaller than the stock variators and than the replacement ones provo sells... so if you grind it all the way off, then make sure you use the larger bushings...

I don't recommend the whole way... leave a little there... and your zuma isn't gonna go 65 just from this mod... I can guarentee that...

Grinding those posts is not the way to go. The Multivar has the same design. It comes with a 2mm washer that goes between the vario and starter clutch. That's the way to go.

yeah, so the bushing stays 2mm further out ;)
