Hi guys, got a '98 zuma w/700c kit, 19mm carb, no airbox, kevlar belt, malossi variato. Guy i bought it from did all the mods to it. Runs good, but seems to be sluggish til it gets to about 25mph+. Then it goes about 48-50mph on the top end. I've got the black roller weights in right now and has the white torque spring. the guy i bought it from was abiout 230lbs and i'm only 155, so was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what size weights i should be running in the variator. Also, what about clutch springs? (not torque springs, but the little ones that go on the clutch shoes) I have the stock clutch, should I also change clutch springs? thanks in advance.

Im not realy sure about the roller weights, but i will tell u this...you should get a OVERREANGE kit it is about 250-350 its made by mallosi and polini...it comes with vair, belt, back pully, and i think the front mettal fan....I have heard that thoes kits will give you SO SO much tourque...i would get it if i was you...maybe you should privat message jered he is one of the moderators and will be glad to talk to you about it...he has one on his zuma...

you probably just need lighter weights in the tranny... Springs on the clutch and torque spring, he probably didn't mind the slow acceleration...

An over range is around $350 (not 250...) and would increase your low end take off and torque... but try some roller and spring changes first to see if it could make you happy

It is hard to determine the roller weight, it is really trial and error, but 4.5 or 5g should be a go starting point. You may need a set of motorio clutch spring (provo sells those) try the blue one, (medium strength). If it is still sluggish at the take off, then you will need to use the red (stiffest in the pack).
