so my 150cc roketa just died while driving and won't start. here are the symptoms:

i changed out the cdi for a "racing cdi" that came free with the carbon fiber exhaust pipe i bought. but the pipe wouldn't fit on the bike so the stock pipe is still on it. i also snapped off one of the studs that hold the exhaust on, if that has any effect, aside from the extra volume..

after i put that cdi in the engine would cut out just little bits at top speeds, and would go like 55 instead of 60. it gradually got worse over the course of a week or so until one day it was really bad, the engine cutting like crazy and i could hardly get over 40. i put the stock cdi back in but that made no difference, so i'm guessing the problem is unrelated to the cdi and that was just a coincidence?

another odd thing is that when i had a passenger on the back, the problem went away, for the most part. with my girlfriend on the back it was pretty smooth riding, just a little engine cutting, and with a heavier person on the back it was almost completely fine, hardly any cutting out at all! but then by myself it was like riding a popcorn popper, with the engine cutting out and all kinds of pops and misfires. sounds like a timing thing but i have no idea why added weight would make a difference?

then today i was driving, couldn't get over about 40 again, and suddenly there was one last POP! and it died and won't start.

what do i do? thanks!

i would check the basic things first. your engine needs three things to run, fuel air and spark. i am having similar problems recurring on my venice, and it keeps being the spark plug. i would check there first.
