i have an 05 zuma and i found out today that the compression is shot so the engine is fracked up i need a new piston head and the cylinder wall needs to be resurfaced the crank needs replacing and all the gaskets and seals and bearings to do with the crank and all that... what should i do ive never worked on a bike at all... im gonna buy the zuma diagram and instructions for repairs and all that on cd so i can have diagrams and how tos and all that but what else should i do

i have a 70cc big bore so can i just buy a new big bore kit and get the cylinder wall resurfaced basically and do big bore kits come with a new crank????

A 70cc kit will come with piston, head and cylinder. The kit is not that difficult to install. If you replace the crankshaft that is more difficult to replace as you have to remove the whole engine from the scoot and dissasemble basically entirely and you would need pullers-specialized tools ect. Why do you need to replace the crank?

Ive been told by my gf's bro that is a mechanic and my mechanic that diagnosed the blown head that 9out of 10 times the crank will go as well and i have another question for you while i got you in my thread... ive read its better to get a bigger carb when you get a big bore and well ive read that the stock carb doesnt feed the big bore like it should and btw i had a big bore and thats what blew anyways should i replace the carb with a bigger carb and if i do get a bigger carb do i need another throttle cable or ANYTHING else???:army:

when you say "you can make the pullers from some all thread, some flat bar stock and a couple of nuts and washers" what do i need those from and i dont even know what flat bar stock is and im still not all to sure EXACTLY what pullers do (they are tranny related right)

also so your saying that my crank might still be good but i know i wont know for sure till i crack her open... but what is "SLop" will it just look fracked up basically???the connecting rod that is and can i rent this type of flywheel puller from the shop my bike is still sitting at... i guess ill ask him if he has one for rent or borrow or buy... but mainly i need to know what the signs are for a fracked up crank by looking at it before i put the new big bore kit and attach it to the crank and hook every thing back up and potentially break something again and waste my time so maybe some pic ref's or solid advice on how to spot a messed up connecting rod and bearings and the two oil seals that sit on the crank and the collar

thank you so much in advance and already for what you posted

You can download the service manual from scootertime for free instead of buying one :)

yeah a manual would help you...
if you can rent the flywheel puller you might be able to
rent the crank tool too.
slop is the play or uneven ware the connecting rod has at the crankshaft
you do not have to crack the case & pull the crank when testing for this.
