OK, gang... I'm ready to order my new Malossi MultiVar from Provo. Before I order I'd like input from anyone that has experience using the MultiVar with the stock finned pulley half versus the Malossi finned pulley half. Erich tells me I might as well stay with the stock piece as I'll see no performance improvement by ordering the Malossi piece. Even so, I'm also interested in obtaining the maximum reliability AND the best belt life.
So... if anyone here has experience with the Malossi MultiVar and both the stock and Malossi finned outer pulley half I'd love to hear about it!
Thanks good people!

The stock pulley half works fine. No need for the Malossi. It's a little heavier, but functionally the same. The Multivar likes heavier weights than other varios. Stock engine/w pipe 5-5.5gr is right. No pipe? 6-6.5. The Multivar comes with a white torque spring. It's the right one until you go 70cc. Installation is straightforward. Use the thinner, 2mm washer behind the vario. The Malossi is by far the best. Gives the fastest acceleration. Lasts forever.

Well... I think I've reached the point where I've spent as much for add-ons as I paid for my Vino! LOL
I just ordered my new Malossi MultiVar and an assortment of rollers from Provo. I also ordered a set of V bushings.I've no idea if they ever wear out but for $5 I figured I might as well get a spare set while the price was low.
I have a feeling I'm really going to like this vario.
Thanks again for your input, Pinky!

Thought I'd let you all know... I ordered my MultiVar last night and Provo shipped everything I ordered this morning... priority handling even. I'm really impressed!
Just call me a satisfied customer! ;)

yeah the ramp guides wear out. i have seen them melt and also seen the weights melt. if you ever break your belt you should replace the weights and ramp guides. out here every scooter rider keeps at least 2 sets of guides and a complete weight set with them.

I "twisted" the bushing/guides that came with the technomoto on my scooter before the last set up upgrades...
Spun one completely off the variator and the other 2 were tweeked beyond use!
but I had modded my variator a little... as the directions on the sales page says to do...

Just to let ya'll know... I ordered my Multivar monday night, and it was waiting for me on the front porch when I got home from work this afternoon (thursday). Outstanding service, Erich!
The MultiVar looks like a quality vario. It seems very solid and well built. I read somewhere that the MultiVar does not come with rollers, but mine did. I don't want to open the bubble-pack that it came in until I'm ready to do the install. That will probably be a couple months down the road, as we're in the middle of a blizzard right now in the northeast. It looks like the rollers included are 7.0 grams, which would make them useful only in a stock Vino, I think. I also got a set of 5.1 gram and a set of 3.6 gram rollers, all Malossi and purchased along with the kit (not included.). It also comes with a set of Vee Bushings, some washers, and a white torque spring, which I'm told is right for a stage one scooter.
I'll do a full report when the install is done. :)

Hi and huggies, Len! :)
Yeah... I am just soooooo ready for winter to be over. I enjoyed my 45 minutes in Miami today. 76 degrees, partly cloudy, and nice seabreeze. When I landed here 2 hours and 15 minutes later it was snowing like crazy and 26 degrees. :::sigh:::
And yes... Phil saw his shadow... 6 more weeks of this junk! :(
