excess smoke...

my 03 gets used mostly at the racetrack in the pits. Is rarely run over 15 mph, in/out of the throttle all the time and it never gets real warm. It now smokes pretty heavily and the smoke smells like old oil/fuel. Usually run dino/synth Yamalube. This winter its getting some maintenance done (new plug, filter, etc). I was considering the removal of the pipe and trying to clean the excess oil from it hoping it would clean up the smoke.

Any other ideas/recommendations? I'm not interested in any big mods, just improvement of what is there for now.

yes take off the pipe and clean it, i had mine off and oil was dripping out of it,
mine would not smoke at first when started, then as it warmed up it turned into a fogger, it was the pipe heating up and burning the oil in the pipe not the motor smoking. mine is also a 2003

Sounds like a Long ride would burn some off also....Go send some smoke signals!o_o
