I have no 1st hand experience with the O/R yet..... As soon as Jered logs on, I am sure he can help you.....
I think he (Jered) had a similar problem that may have been caused by a setting on the rear torque driver? Maybe moving a pin to a different hole?

did you take out the starter gear? ;no

I removed all of the starter components except the motor

I tried changing the torque driver pin settings and it still does it. Should I try going up to the 4.7g rollers instead of the 3.9 in the variator?

Ok this is aggrevating me I changed the weights and it still does it. I dont know what it is.

take it all back apart, and re-start...... sometimes this helps  I hope you get it figured out.......

Those weights are way too light. With the RS 70 I used to run 5.5gr, though 6 worked very well.

Yeah.. I got the 4.7 rollers in mine... I need to test mine further as I've been under snow all winter and can't even sneak in a test ride...
I'd make sure that the clutch is opening and not just spinning in the bell...

It was opening this morning before I put the over range kit on

do you have a stock clutch or aftermarket? stock bell or aftermarket?
could be your simply spinning and not getting grip with the added torque...

I have the delta clutch and the finned aftermarket bell

heck, I'm a little lost...
I'd check to see if you stripped the crankshaft? maybe it's spinning to start but looses it due to stripped teeth...
Just a thought? Pinky, any ideas?

The thing to do is put it on the stand (if you have one) and run it with the tranny cover off. Then you can see what's happening. It sounds like there's an installation problem, and the torque pulley isn't opening. With weights down around 4gr the pulley will take it's time, and top speed isn't gonna be much more than 35-40, but it ought to go faster than 5.

I dont knowe what I did but it is working now. But still it isnt going any faster if not slower than before I put the over range and the up gears in it. I am going around 43.2 by a gps and before I was running about48.2. Now I am using the 4.7 gram weights and before when my techmo variator was on I was using silver rollers with the cap for a total of 5.2 grams. I dont have any idea what it could be. I figured it should run a little faster with the up gears installed. Help!!!!!!!!!!

I just put the black weights which weigh 7.2 with the caps on them in and it would go faster but I still think it should go faster than it is. I dropped my gps going down the road so I cant get a true reading on it now. How hot does the transmission usually get. It was really hot I couldnt hold my hand on the tranny cover but for a couple of seconds because it was so hot. Is that normal?

No, that's not normal. Has to be whole lot of clutch slip. The light weights weren't getting the torque pulley open at the revs you turn. The heavy weights are applying more torque to the clutch, against those tall gears, than it can handle. Tall gears are death on a clutch. You need 5.5-6gr to be in the middle. If you lighten up on the clutch adjustment you'll get a stronger engagement. There is no substitute for lots of vent holes in the tranny case. I curently have 40 quarter-inch holes, and plan to add more.

You say to lighten up on my clutch. What springs should I use. I have most every color. And in which notches should I try putting the pad holders in on my delta? Middle, Far out, Or in close, In close right?

I haven't tried the Delta. It's known as the strongest clutch, but also the most complicated. I was talking with Tommy at MH. He's used the Delta in racing for years, but tells me he doesn't mess with tuning them. Too much trouble. Somebody told him the setting once, and it worked, so that's what he's used ever since. I'd give him a call. He's a good guy and will steer you right.
