Hi, I have found a 2003 Honda Jazz (aka Metropolitan II) with 9000 miles on it, for 450$US. I was told that the only problem the scooter ever had was that it would die out, but that this problem was fixed after the air filter was replaced. As of now, it is suppose to be running fine but would need a new oil filter.
My question to you is : is 9000 miles considered to be high-mileage on this scooter ; will I be able to get a lot of life out of it still?
Also, are there things I should look for (specific to this model) when I test drive the scooter?
P.S. I know that these scooters are slow (37-40 mph), but this is not an issue for me as I already have a 70cc zuma. (in fact, the Jazz will be for my girlfriend).
Please reply promptly, as I will be buying the scooter on Saturday. (if all seems fine).

I bought a Honda Giorno Scooter at a 2nd hand store still good condition. But I don't know what year it was built.

So did you buy it? I have a 2003 Metropolitan II also. Recent purchase for me. The motor will go 15k miles until you need to start replacing stuff/fixing. $450 is a good buy. In Honolulu, Hawaii these mopeds go for $1600 on the used market with 4000 miles. So yah, jump on it.
I agree it's very slow and heavy. If I wanna go fast I just jump on one of my motorcycles...its usually the Ducati Superbike =)

The Met II is the slower version of the Honda Met (25-30 mph tops), but you can do some things to get it to 35 mph or so. Check out Urbanscootin (http://www.urbanscootin.com) for a great forum for this scooter.
the Honda Met is a rock solid scooter & will last a long time. There are some folks who have racked up 15k miles one them. I sure miss mine.

Hi everyone,
My girlfriend decided to buy the scooter and it turns out that it is a Met I (not the slow ones).
As of now, she is happy with the scooters performance and we would like to know if anything needs replacing since the previous owner did not seem to give it the care it deserved. After changing the air filter, spark plug, engine oil and adding coolant, what should we do? Gas filter maybe?
Remember that it has 9000 miles and that we would like to have it run as safely as possible (without having me fear it will break down and leave my girlfriend stuck at work without a ride).
Also, we have noticed twice (once when we went to buy it, once today) that there is a brownish-clear liquid that puddles under the scooter after leaving it parked. Since the engine coolant tank is very low (can't even see any in the tank), could this be a coolant leak? I don't think so but I will add coolant to make sure (it obviously needs some).
Could the motor oil have been filled too high? I will change it and add the proper amount...
Any ideas incase that does not solve anything? (I will only be able to start working on it in April, once the cold Canadian winter is gone)
Thanks to everyone.

it's great that you got the regular Met & not the II....
