alright but another question if my moped went 35 at one time would that mean that it has already been restricted and do zuma have a restriction in the tailpipe this whole restriction thing has me confused about replacing the v belt or checking to see if my restricted

Zumas have no restriction in the exhaust nor in the transmission. My top speed with a new belt and aftermarket exhaust (tecnigas Silent Sport) is about 40-42 mph.

allright that makes me feel alittle better so they just restrict vinos because there was a whole artical on derestriction on the main provoscooter website. if its only going 30 then it must be the belt because when the transmission was open to replace the kick start the was alot of black dust, also how much would you think just a ballpark to replace a belt? thanks just this makes me feel better about trying to fix the zuma

Belts will cost you about $20-$40. One from Yamaha will be probably twice that. The Provoscooter store sells them for $35.00. Also check the rollers in the variator for flat spots. If they are small enough, you might be able to smooth them out; otherwise you could need new ones. They generally go for $10-$20 a set. The stock weight is 6.5g; you might want to buy sets ranging from 5g to 6.5g so you and change the acceleration/take off performance to your liking (lighter rollers=faster take off, ie wheelies). As for restrictions, some scooters have them, some don't. And the type of restriction varies; a washer in the variator, a washer reducing the flow in the exhaust, a plate partailly covering the carb intake and CDI restriction.
