I tried the Zuma 125 today. The pickup from a stop was decent with smooth acceleration up to almost 50 mph on a level road. It may have gone faster but since it was a controlled test ride, I couldn't really max it out. I couldn't really test the handling due to the rather mundane road that we used for the test ride. It does possess dual rear shocks and 12 inch tires. However, the tires seem thinner than the 50 cc Zuma.

There are 3 different color schemes and I prefer the all black one. There is a cool feature which covers the key ignition and uses a magnetic looking key to open the cover before inserting your ignition key to start the scooter.
The helmet storage under the seat isn't as large as the 50 cc version.

Overall, I think it's a nice bike that will be very reliable if it is kept stock. Don't expect it to out run any cars or have the explosive acceleration that most of us are accustumed to riding our hopped up 2 stroke Zuma's. I would probably pay up to $3000 OTD for it. Unfortunately, in Hawaii, one shop is asking $3800 OTD and another $4000 OTD. With those prices, I will stick to my 2 stroke Zuma. Now if they don't sell due to our terrible economy and the dealerships are willing to negotiate, then you never know.

I got to hop on Leo DiCaprio's 125 (it was prepped for him but he hadn't put any money down yet). I was waiting for my XT250 to get it's first oil change and had some time.

Nice bike. Handles well. Accelerates nicely. Feels like it belongs in LA street traffic. My full face doesn't fit in the well. The seat is cushier. (But I've gotten used to the thong my XT calls a seat)

I can't purchase it right now. I just bought an XT250 Dual Sport.

Went by the shop today and the sales guy told me they have been selling out. Well more power to the shops. I'm still not ready to drop $3700 for it.

Both South Seas and Phleuger has them. South Seas will let you test ride as long as you have a motorcycle license. Phleuger will not. I hope you get a chance to check it out.

It would be cool if they would. It would never keep up with your Zuma if they don't modify it.

It would be more fair if they would test one of those 100 cc Yamaha BeeWee's that reside on Maui. The Zuma 125 is strictly a commuter in a stock configuration.

I do not own a scooter yet, but I've saved for one and am considering the zuma 125. Does anyone think that there would be a better option for someone looking for a dual sport scooter that can handle at least 55 mph? I'm looking for something that will not sputter out on me during a long ride and that I can ride on a dirt road if I need/want to. But I will mostly be riding it to/from work and around town as well.

I'd say the Zuma 125 sounds like a good fit for you, though i haven't actually ridden on myself. A buddy 125 would be a nice scooter as well, but it may not meet your off road criterion. There is also the rattler, but for the price difference i'd probably lean toward the Zuma.

that key thing on the Zuma 125 is bike specific. I was looking at one today and the guy showed me how you cannot use 1 key to access the lock on another zuma 125.

I am thinking about getting a yellow one
