I crashed my Vino the back of an SUV lastnight. haha. stupid sh*t deceded at the last minute to make a right turn.
In doing so, i broke the front guard a little bit. (i'll post pictures if you need) anyway, i went to the dealer today to order some replacement parts. the front guard is $191. holy crap
Does anyone know where i could get one cheaper or have one that i can buy? (burgundy) i want to trade it in toward a 125, but need to replace this first.
any ideas?
i really don't want to pay 200 bucks for this.

So what did the person say after you ran into them? Sounds like it was there fault

anytime you hit someone form behind, its your fault..... (unless they are dumb, and admit fault)

Unfortunately, you're dead on with that comment, Lennox. In the eyes of the law it's all about providing safe following distance behind traffic in front. Last summer I was following a car too closely on my motorcycle and he did one of those "stomp on the brakes to make a left turn" things we've all experienced. There's no way I could stop in time and only a violent counter-steer to the right and back to the left kept me from plowing into his rear. I did miss him, but just barely. As I rode on, my heart in my throat, I was swearing at him, but more at myself for getting into such a nearly catastrophic situation.

Always leave enough room between you and traffic you're following. And learn how to countersteer!

everybody read this and then stop and think for a minute...........

Thats such a gay law cause people stop short all the time just to get alittle cash. Wouldnt you check to see if anyone is coming before you quickley jolt over and make a right turn. I always look ahead and wonder what the car ahead of me is gonna do before I do anything. I have almost been hit a few times cause people just dont see you.

First of all: I never pointed blame at the guy. I am fully awaire of the law, and don't even need to worry about it, because the guy said "if you're ok, i'm ok - don't worry about it." so all i have to worry about is the cut on my knee and the bruise on my shin.

Second: it wasn't as if i was being reckless. Traveling at 30mph in a 45, I was actually trying to be safe. I was looking over my shoulder, checking my blindspot to switch lanes, and when i turned back, he was stopping *not slowing down* he was stopping, so before i could react, i was headed for trouble. My fault completely, but still, would have been nice of him to not turn right. ;))

Third: None of you answered my question. I'm not looking for legal advice, i'm looking for a part for my scooter. I appreciate your interest, but what i really need is the front guard. Any suggestions?

thanks,
Dave

do a ebay search... people are always selling body panels on there... heck there were a complete set of vino panels a couple weeks ago...

The only problem with ebay is that half the time the body panels for sale are in worse shape then the ones you got! But yeah, thats pretty much your only option for cheap body panels.

I have ordered some body stuff from a out of state site.
If you tell me/us the year of your bike and our a pic of the piece you need to replace, more info might be avaliable.
I thaought the prices I got were better than my local dealer. I think my local guys were trying to make a buck.

I'm going to argue this one. It's called following too close to a vehicle. If a car slams his brakes on too fast for the car behind to stop, then he's tailgating, plain and simple.

i also need a new front body panel, and once, like eight months ago, someone was sellling a new one (right color and everything) for fifty bucks on ebay!!! and i passed it up!! i figured they were more common and there would be others, but i have yet to see one since... so, check ebay and craigslist often, it'll take a while to find the right panel/color/year but it'll be well worth it.
