Hello!

I just got a new 50cc Vento Zip. What type of oil should I use? Should I use synthetic? What does the factory recommend? Also, there is a sticker inside the storage compartment that says to mix oil with the gas for the first run. Is this true? Is this common?

Thanks,

Any oil is fine, synthetic is best.............

I NEVER mix 1st tank if I plan on useing the injection system.

Why get the motor used to extra lube??

I use Motorex cross power 2T full synthetic oil... Best I could locate but it's $13.95 a quart... Now a quart will last 750 miles or so... Maybe more... I have put 2 quarts and have almost 1000 miles on my scooter (the oil tank is still 1/2 full).

With about a grand in performance parts I want to make sure I got the best lube I can get my hands on...

If your running a stock engine and not planning on upgrading then most any 2 stroke oil will work... However the normal debate of dino oil or synthec comes into play...

Synthetic is formulated to provide an identical shape and texture at all times... Dino oil had odd shapes (Down to the molecular, *SP*, level...) So you get better lube from synthetic just a matter of spending over 2 times the price for the better protection...

It's your call...

2004 Zuma here and welcome to the boards bro.

I am tracking my miles to see when the low oil light comes on and I have to add oil to the injection system. So far 400 miles and no light- have heard 1000+ miles before the light comes on.

I say buy the best you can get since it seems to last a long while- I bought yarmalube or some thing like that which the dealer said to get- it is yamaha's brand I think.

yamalube is yamaha's brand of oil...

I think it is okay... Never heard anything bad... However it's like all other companies... It cost more for the yamaha name... IMO...

I use Yamahalube 2 for PWC's, yes you heard me, I use jet ski oil. It's pretty much the same only it is formulated to burn a little cleaner. you see a few years ago some extreme left wing cry babies, like Greenpeace decided jet skis are destroying ocean life and whined that jet skis are both noisy and produced horrible amounts of pollution that harms sea life so it was an easy short term fix to make a better oil until four-stroke marine engines for jet skis came in to their own. Any case, I've gone through a gallon of jet ski oil so far and there is no difference in performance or consumption, just a lot less white smoke is all.

i Have a r3i and didnt even think to read that peice of paper to do that. i use lucas semi synthetic because it burns super clean, it hardly ever puts any smoke out. but then again have heard the cherry fuel smell stuff i ad to the gas will also make it not smoke. who knows. i do know that as soon as i get my 70cc kit i am switching to castrol 957 full synth( at list i think thats the number), my brother uses it in his 3-cyclinder 2-stoke drag bike and says he has never had a problem and he has seen improvments on the dyno with it.
