HI-
So I'm trying to get a little more oomph out of my scooter... its a 4-stroke and I can get up to Maybe 30 going down an incline with a tailwind- (and that takes a while-)

I removed the Muffler to try and get rid of the airflow restrictor on the exhaust, but there doesn't appear to be one where it meets up with the engine casing. I'm looking a little closer at it now and it looks like just the very tip-end of the exhaust port on the muffler (very end of the exhaust-) is a welded-on piece of pipe that's about half the diameter of the main exhaust pipe....

Am I correct in thinking that that's likely the Bottle-neck in the exhaust system? And if I break that weld and weld on a new larger diameter nipple, would that effectively remove the exhaust derestriction?
(Sorry if that's a super-obvious question, but I haven't messed with this kind of thing before- though I AM handy with a welder and think I could do this if its likely to help...)

thanks-

not sure if it will help, or not. If you are handy with the welder, go for it. Let us know what happens.

yes if that is the smallest part of the
exhaust it should make it go a tiny bit faster
you will have to upjet for some more power.
also change the weights(i'd recommend some sliding weights)

however you would be better off selling that one and buying a 2 cycle
just by removing the exhaust restrictor i got my '05 lx to do about 42
add sliding weights and it does 44+
change both sets of springs and you can get faster take off or a bit higher end

Drat- Nope- hardly any difference at all.
(And its definitely a little louder now...)
I suppose to make absolutely certain they didn't do anything really funky inside the muffler, I'll just remove the whole thing and go for a (VERY) short ride...THAT will most definitely be louder...
Thanks tho-
