I bought a used Zuma with 6k miles on it but running well it seemed. I took it for a test drive today. The Zuma Started up great and ran consistently and quick throughout the drive. The brakes were needing adjusted of course. Is there a Restrictor on the Exhaust of the 1998 Zuma? Can I take it off if there is? because I want more top end speed like most, etc...? ... Is there a Laundry list of things I should check on the Engine/ Tranny that I could start checking out, and or changing since I don't know the new purchase very well? I just want to make sure I don't screw up and not check something.. thanx everyone!

do a compression check to make sure compression is good. Change the plug and change the tranny oil. That would be a good start. But you know the old saying "if it aint broke, dont fix it"

Ther is no restriction on the exhaust (if it is the stock one), nor is there one in the variator. As for checking other stuff; I would probably check/replace the belt and check the condition of the clutch rollers, clean and re-oil the air filter, maybe switch to a synthetic oil and check the tires for cracks on the sidewalls or slow leaks.
