Does anyone know how to derestrict a 1987 Elite 50? I looked at the variator and there is no limiter (washer) also I couldn't find a washer in the exhaust. Could there be a restricter plate in the intake tract somewhere? Top speed is only about 25mph on flat roads and I'm only 150lbs.

is that a 4 or 2 stroke? I'm guessing from the year it's a 2, but never know...

anyway, normal... it's a washer in the tranny, washer in the exhaust and the CDI (power unit)...

however I'm 100% clueless on your model... If it were a zuma... I could blindly tell you about it but... you know...

anyone have info for him?

oh yeah... if it's a 4 stroke then that's all your gonna get out of it... without EXPENSIVE upgrades...

Lets see if i was you i would check the compression,if it is low i would change the rings, and after you do that take your cylinder head and get any mechine shop to mill your head.Or you can check if the bolt patterns this honda is the same as a eliteS and if its the same you can compression heads and you should get some power. If i was you i also would change the exhaust...and get a expansion chamber pipe,i would think that they wont make one but what i did on my honda spree 87 was cut the header part of my stock pipe and bout a cheap expansion pipe maybe try to find on of ebay, and weld it on their u should be good........then i u should by performance ignition coil and up the jets, you can get bigger jets from the honda dealer ship......you also can buy a sheet of carben fiber ive seen them befor, just take of the old ones trace it and cut it out drill some holes in it and pop thoes on.i got my honda spree to go from 25-30 down will to 42-46 down hill clocked. so do some of thoes things but i would do all if i was you, you should be able to do about 40....ohh yea and i would also call a store called Badmotorscooterparts.com and see if they can hook you up with some gears for the tranny....im not sure about your year...it was harder for me to get top speed on my spree because it is one gear transmition......but i didnt give up i changed the frame and put the motor on a yamaha QT50 and now im working on a 70CC big bore kit custome...i got a pw50 piston wich is longer and fatter than a spree...but then i ran into a prblem with the piston hitting the top so i had to get a custom spacer made im going to take it all apart today and take some pics and post it up.and ohhh yea u should also get a bigger carb if you can....i hope i helped you alot let me know how fast u get that thing goin

at the middle of the page there is a "manage attachment" link, once that opens you can attach a file that is 400x600 pixel size... anything bigger will be canceled as the software limits that size of files to save server space.

If you need to resize your photo then you need to do it in an imaging software program...

I got a bigger and longer piston and got the jug bored out and sleeved to the size of the bigger piston.....and got my ports ported and polished..they dont make kits for the spree so this was the only way to gain cc's...and i got a compression head...i dont understand your question i hope this explained everything you were asking

Wide why waste time with a spree motor. the best you can hope to get is 40. get yourself a dio and made a big block stroker out of it, 125cc and do 90+ on the roads.

yea you can also do that but the bad thing about that i heard about thoes kits is that you have to weld ur case?? is that right is the kit you are talking about h20 or aircooled.

which motor do you think is better to hook up a honda EliteS/dio or a yamaha jog???

And i already have a dio motor thats high performance but im installing that on a vento zip...and i dont want to keep the motor so thats why im trying to get rid of it.i just wanted to see how fast i can get a spree motor to go because it was very hard because of that 1 speed tranny.and plus i can get stroker kits for cheap but i dont realy think its a very good idea i mean ur weakining your case what do u think my motor mounts are connected to ??? my case so thats why i mean i dont want it breaking on me i sometimes like goin off road and what knot

Change the variator ,if one is available, it will give you 4-5 mph of top speed, Replace your drive belt if worn. THIS will make a huge difference. :)

You cannot change the vair on a honda spree they dont make one.you can replace your belt that will work but. But i dont like the fact that they dont have variators for them.

My original post was for a 87 Elite (but it's actually a 88). I thought they were different than the Spree? Am I wrong?

there are performance parts for those motors, we call them 87 motors. you can get a 65cc bore kit, pipe, front pulley, and gears. i think the most you will get out of that bike is about 55mph. my friend had one that have all of those parts and his bike could keep up with us on the moped cruises no problem. pm me if you want to know where to get the parts from. provo is a malossi dealer and mk dealer, they make the bore kits for those bikes.
